Methods and Systems for Metrics Analysis and Interactive Rendering, Including Events Having Combined Activity and Location Information
A method includes receiving location data of a monitoring device when carried by a user and receiving motion data of the monitoring device. The motion data is associated with a time of occurrence and the location data. The method includes processing the received motion data to identify a group of the motion data having a substantially common characteristic and processing the location data for the group of the motion data. The group of motion data by way of processing the location data provides an activity identifier. The motion data includes metric data that identifies characteristics of the motion data. The method includes transferring the activity identifier and the characteristics of the motion data to a screen of a device for display. The activity identifier being a graphical user interface that receives an input for rendering more or less of the characteristics of the motion data.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving geo-location data of an activity tracking device when worn by a user, the user having a user account that has the activity tracking device associated therewith, the user account is accessible on a website;
receiving motion data of the activity tracking device, the motion data is associated with a time of occurrence of motion of the activity tracking device when worn by the user and with the geo-location data of the activity tracking device;
processing the received motion data and the received geo-location data to characterize an activity for the motion data and an amount of the activity, the activity being assigned to a place of occurrence of the activity using a combination of the received geo-location data and the received motion data; and
associating the characterization of the activity, the amount of the activity, and the place of occurrence of the activity to the user account of the user.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating a text summary of a metric based on the characterization of the activity and the amount of the activity.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the geo-location data includes a latitude of the activity tracking device, or a longitude of the activity tracking device, or an altitude of the activity tracking device, or a combination thereof.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the activity tracking device includes a watch, or a wristband, or a bracelet, or a clip.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing access to the user account to view the characterization of the activity and the amount of the activity.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing access to the user account to view the characterization of the activity, the amount of the activity, and the place of occurrence.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the motion data includes one or more positions of the activity tracking device.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the motion data is associated with the time of occurrence of motion of the activity tracking device when an amount of time at which a number of positions reached by the activity tracking device is monitored.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein processing the received motion tracking data and the received geo-location data is performed to determine whether the place of occurrence is consistent with the characterization of the activity.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein processing the received motion tracking data comprises determining a distance covered by the motion relative to the time of occurrence of the motion of the activity tracking device.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the characterization of the activity is matched to the place of occurrence when it is determined that the place of occurrence is consistent with the characterization of the activity.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein associating the characterization of the activity, the amount of the activity, and the place of occurrence to the user account comprises allowing the characterization of the activity, the amount of the activity, and the place of occurrence to be accessed via the user account.
13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising allowing via the user account filtering of one or more places of occurrence visited by the user while performing the activity.
14 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising allowing via the user account a selection of user groups who can view the activity and the place of occurrence.
15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the geo-location data and the motion data comprises receiving the geo-location data and the motion data from the activity tracking device.
16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the geo-location data and the motion data comprises receiving the geo-location data and the motion data from the activity tracking device via a network.
17 . A method comprising:
determining geo-location data when an activity tracking device is worn by a user, the user having a user account accessible via a website;
determining motion tracking data when the activity tracking device is worn by the user, the motion tracking data is associated with a time of occurrence of a motion of the activity tracking device when worn by the user and the geo-location data of the activity tracking device;
processing the motion tracking data and the geo-location data to characterize an activity for the motion tracking data and an amount of the activity, the activity being matched to a place of occurrence of the activity using a combination of the geo-location data and the motion tracking data; and
sending the characterization of the activity, the amount of the activity, and the place of occurrence for association with the user account of the user.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein determining the geo-location data and the motion tracking data is performed by the activity tracking device.
19 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising generating a sentence summary of a metric based on the characterization of the activity and the amount of the activity.
20 . A method comprising:
obtaining one or more geo-locations of a monitoring device when used by a user;
determining one or more spatial positions of the monitoring device;
determining one or more times of occurrence corresponding to the spatial positions and the geo-locations; and
generating metric data based on the times of occurrence, the geo-locations, and the spatial positions;
wherein the metric data includes levels of an activity performed by the user,
wherein the levels include an amount of stairs ascended by the user, or an amount of stairs descended by the user, or an amount of steps walked or ran by the user, or an amount of calories burned by the user, or an amount of distance traveled by the user, or an amount of hours slept by the user, or an amount of time for which the user is active, or a time at which the user wakes up, or a time at which the user goes to bed, or an amount of time spent by the user at a location, or an amount of time taken by the user to perform the activity, or a combination thereof.
21 . The method of claim 20 , further comprising generating a description summarizing the metric.
22 . The method of claim 20 , further comprising determining a statistical metric of the activity performed at a location over a time horizon based on the times of occurrence.
23 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising generating a description summarizing the statistical metric.
24 . A method comprising:
receiving one or more geo-locations of a monitoring device, the monitoring device usable by a user;
receiving one or more spatial positions of the monitoring device;
receiving one or more times of occurrence corresponding to the spatial positions and the geo-locations;
determining activity data based on the times of occurrence, the geo-locations, and the spatial positions, the activity data including metric data that includes one or more activity levels, the activity data including one or more classes of activities detected by the monitoring device; and
determining one or more locations of the monitoring device based on the times of occurrence, the geo-locations, and the spatial positions,
wherein the activity levels include an amount of stairs ascended by the user, or an amount of stairs descended by the user, or an amount of steps walked or ran by the user, or an amount of calories burned by the user, or an amount of distance traveled by the user, or an amount of hours slept by the user, or an amount of time for which the user is active, or a time at which the user wakes up, or a time at which the user goes to bed, or an amount of time spent by the user at the locations, or an amount of time taken by the user to perform an activity, or a combination thereof.
25 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising generating a description summarizing the metric data.
26 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising determining a statistical metric of one or more activities performed at the locations over a time horizon based on the times of occurrence.
27 . The method of claim 26 , further comprising generating a description summarizing the statistical metric.
28 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the spatial positions are processed to map a portion of spatial positions to one of the activities.
29 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the monitoring device is wearable as a watch, or a wrist band, or a clip.
30 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the spatial positions include one or more positions that indicate a motion of the monitoring device.
