Abstract

The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for use of photolyzable nitric oxide donors for the treatment of sexual dysfunction.

Claims (33)

1. A product for treating sexual dysfunction comprising:

at least one of a lubricant, a gel, a cream, a lotion, or a jelly, that includes at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor that is administrable to a genital region of an individual; and

at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

2. The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one insertable light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one implantable light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one ultraviolet light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one visible light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one infrared light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

7. The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor, in response to one or more signals.

8. The product of claim 1 , wherein the product is for treating male erectile dysfunction.

9. The product of claim 1 , wherein the product is at least partially effective in reducing one or more symptoms associated with female arousal disorder.

10. The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one of a lubricant, a gel, a cream, a lotion, or a jelly, that includes at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor that is administrable to a genital region of an individual comprises:

at least one of a lubricant, a gel, a cream, a lotion, or a jelly, that includes at least one of the following types of photolyzable nitric oxide donors: diazeniumdiolate, S-nitrosothiol, organic nitrate, complex of nitric oxide with one or more nucleophiles, L-arginine, molsidomine, CAS754, SPM-5185, SIN-1, nitrosylating compound, or nitroester.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one external light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

12. The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one vaginal light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one of the following types of light sources: a lamp, a flashlight, a wand, a ring, underwear, or a condom.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor, in response to activation of at least one switch.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one light emitting diode (LED) that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

The product of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source that is configured to emit light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor comprises:

at least one light source that is configured to emit via at least one optical fiber light that includes a wavelength of light that at least approximately corresponds to an absorption maximum for the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor to facilitate release of nitric oxide from the at least one photolyzable nitric oxide donor.

17. The product of claim 1 , wherein the product is for one or more of the following:

facilitate achievement of an erection, increase rigidity of an erection, increase blood flow, increase lubrication, increase clitoral vasocongestion, or increase duration of an erection.
