Methods and compositions for wound treatment
View Patent ↗The present disclosure relates to methods for identifying proteins or peptide motifs of intracellular, extracellular, or extracellular matrix proteins specifically exposed in wound sites, as well as compositions for treating wounds, and methods for their use.
1. A method for treatment of an open wound in a subject, comprising administering to the open wound a composition comprising a carrier, a hemostatic agent, and a wound targeting moiety comprising an antibody specific to a cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope, wherein the carrier is conjugated to the antibody, wherein the carrier contains the hemostatic agent, and wherein the antibody facilitates local delivery of the hemostatic agent to wound tissue by binding to an exposed cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope, wherein the exposed cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope is exposed upon wounding of the subject, and wherein the hemostatic agent is a self-assembling peptides having hemostatic activity.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antibody binds to an exposed extracellular cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein exposing the cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope results from collagen denaturation.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the self-assembling peptide creates a hydrogel.
5. A method for treatment of an internal wound in a subject, comprising administering to the site of the internal wound a composition comprising a carrier containing a hemostatic agent and conjugated to a wound targeting moiety comprising an antibody specific to a cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope, wherein the antibody facilitates local delivery of the hemostatic agent to injured tissue by binding to a cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope that is exposed upon wounding of the subject, and wherein the hemostatic agent is a self-assembling peptides having hemostatic activity.
6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the antibody binds to an exposed extracellular cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope.
7. The method of claim 5 , wherein exposing the cryptic tripeptide arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) epitope results from collagen denaturation.
8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the self-assembling peptide creates a hydrogel.
