Abstract

Techniques for evaluating and managing cloud networks are provided. Geographical locations for cloud processing environments are combined with attributes and usage metrics to form associations between each cloud processing environment's geographical location and that cloud's corresponding attributes and usage metrics. A map is organized for the associations to form a cloud network. The map is dynamically updated, supplied to services, and rendered for evaluation of the cloud network.

Claims (28)

1 . (canceled)

2 . A method, comprising:

acquiring, by a processor, analytical and geographical data associated with resources of a cloud;

executing, by the processor, a test against one or more of the resources based on at least a portion of the data; and

recording, by the processor, a state produced when the test is executed against the one or more resources.

3 . The method of claim 2 further comprising, presenting, by the processor a map showing geographical locations for the resources of the cloud based on at least a portion of the data.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein presenting further includes presenting the state with the geographical locations.

5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein presenting further includes providing the map as an interactive interface.

6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein acquiring further includes creating a plan for executing the test based on the data.

7 . The method of claim 2 , wherein recording further includes representing within the state: results from the test, the data, and previous results from previously executed tests.

8 . The method of claim 2 , wherein recording further includes reporting the state.

9 . A method, comprising:

receiving, by a processor, metrics from test results performed on a cloud;

modifying, by the processor, a state associated with the cloud based on the test results and previous test results associated with previous tests performed on the cloud; and

representing, by the processor, the modified state as an interactive map.

10 . The method of claim 9 further comprising, providing, by the processor the interactive map to a service based on an event.

11 . The method of claim 9 further comprising, presenting, by the processor, the interactive map on a display associated with the processor.

12 . The method of claim 9 further comprising, rendering, by the processor, the interactive map for output to print media.

13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein representing further includes rendering the interactive map to a requested format.

14 . The method of claim 9 , wherein representing further includes including identifiers for resources of the cloud and geographical locations for resources associated with those identifiers within the interactive map.

15 . A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a cloud testing module, the cloud testing module operable to: (i) execute on the processor, (ii) configure tests for resources of a cloud, and (iii) update a state for the cloud based on: results for the texts once executed on the cloud, previous test results for previously tests executed on the cloud, and a previous state for the cloud.

16 . system of claim 15 , wherein the cloud testing module is further operable to (iv) represent the state as a map data structure.

17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the cloud testing module is further operable to (v) render the map data structure to a requested format.

18 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the cloud testing module is further operable to (v) present the map data structure in a display associated with the processor.

19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein cloud testing module is further operable to (vi) present the map data structure as an interactive interface within the display.

20 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the cloud testing module is further operable to in (iii) to define geographical locations for each resource within the updated state.
