Abstract

The invention describes a long-range optical device with two observation parts and a first observation beam path and a measurement beam path, in which the two observation parts are arranged essentially parallel next to each other and spaced a predefinable distance apart via at least one connection element. In a plan view of the device 1 with respect to a plane, in which the longitudinal axes of the observation parts are arranged, the sub-regions of the observation parts facing each other lie directly opposite each other over a length aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the observation parts of 20% to 90%, preferably 30% to 80% of a length of the observation parts. In addition, the observation beam path and the measurement beam path are arranged outside the sub-regions of the observation parts.

Claims (24)

1. A long-range optical device comprising:

first and second observation parts and optical components arranged therein forming respective first and second observation beam paths, each of the observation parts including objective and ocular ends;

a laser range finder forming a measurement beam path with a transmitter beam path and a receiver beam path, the measurement beam path at least partially overlapping with one of the observation beam paths; and

two connection elements arranged between the objective and ocular ends of the first and second observation parts and longitudinally spaced from each other, and defining a free space between the observation parts extending along at least a portion of the distance between the objective and ocular ends thereof, each of the connection elements comprises a hinge having a pivot axis, the free space having a length of 20%-90% of the length of the observation parts, and being configured such that a user's fingers can protrude unhindered between the two observation parts, and wherein the transmitter beam path is arranged separate from the observation beam paths as a third beam path.

2. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second observation parts has a longitudinal axis, the free space extends over a length extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the observation parts of 30%-80% of the length of the observation parts.

3. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein the free space extends between the two connection elements over a length of more than 30 mm.

4. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein the transmitter beam path is provided on the connection element at the objective end.

5. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein the transmitter beam path is located in the region of the pivot axis of the hinge.

6. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second observation parts has a longitudinal axis, the free space has a length of 50 mm to 120 mm along longitudinal axes of the observation parts.

7. The long-range optical device of claim 1 further comprising an opto-electronic display element arranged in at least one of the two observation parts.

8. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the optical components is arranged to feed the receiver beam path into the first observation beam path.

9. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , comprising a first focusing device to focus the two observation beam paths and the receiver beam path.

10. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , comprising a device for determining propagation time connected to the measurement beam path of the laser range finder.

11. The long-range optical device of claim 7 , comprising a control and analysis unit, and a switching device for displaying different symbols or data, the switching device is arranged between the opto-electronic display element and the control and analysis unit.

12. The long-range optical device of claim 7 , wherein the opto-electronic display element is connected to a switching device for optionally feeding in the beam paths for displaying a target mark and/or a measurement in at least one of the observation beam paths.

13. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein the observation parts comprise at least one tubular housing.

14. The long-range optical device of claim 13 , wherein the at least one tubular housing comprises a material selected from the group consisting of magnesium, magnesium alloy, and fiber-reinforced plastic.

15. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second observation parts has a longitudinal axis, the spacing between the longitudinal axes of the first and second observation parts in a plane extending through them is between 50 mm and 70 mm.

16. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second observation parts has a longitudinal axis, the pivot axis of the hinge is centrally arranged between the longitudinal axes of the first and second observation parts.

17. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , further comprising at least one focusing device and an adjustment drive connected to the at least one of the focusing device.

18. The long-range optical device of claim 17 , comprising a control and analysis unit connected to the adjustment drive.

19. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , comprising electrical components arranged in the two observation parts, the optical and electrical components are arranged symmetrically with respect to the pivot axis.

20. The long-range optical device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second observation parts has a longitudinal axis, the sum of the widths of the two connection elements along the longitudinal axes is less than 100 mm.
