Abstract

A male F-Type coaxial cable connector has an improved RF shield including a bridge located between and electrically interconnecting a connector fastening nut and a connector body portion. The bridge may be in the form of a metal ring or similar material with a cone-like shape and may include a gap, for example a gap to provide resiliency.

Claims (10)

1 . A method of improving a coaxial cable connector comprising the steps of:

providing an electrically conductive bridge having a cone-like shape and a centerline about coincident with a central axis of the connector; and,

improving the shielding of a conductor located along the connector central axis by locating the bridge in a gap between coaxially arranged first and second connector parts, the first part being rotatable with respect to the second part.

2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of configuring the bridge as a spring that presses against an inner wall of the first connector part.

3 . The method of claim 2 further comprising the step of configuring the bridge as a partial ring that grips a forward mouth of the second connector part.

4 . The method of claim 3 further comprising the step of configuring the bridge to simultaneously mechanically contact and electrically interconnect the first and second connector parts.

5 . The method of claim 3 wherein the first connector part is a fastener and the second connector part is a connector body.

6 . The method of claim 5 further comprising the step of configuring the connector as a male F-Type connector.

7 . The method of claim 3 wherein the bridge angle varies in the range of about 30 to 40 degrees.

8 . The method of claim 7 wherein the bridge has a thickness in the range of about 0.3 to 0.6 millimeters.
