Forehead support for a patient interface
A forehead support for a patient interface used in the treatment of sleep disordered breathing, includes a support post provided to a frame and a pair of arms extending from the support post. At least one of the pair of arms is adapted to rotate relative to the support post about an axis that extends transverse to the support post.
1. A patient interface for delivering a supply of breathable gas at positive pressure to a patient for treatment of sleep disordered breathing, the patient interface comprising:
a frame;
a cushion provided to the frame, the cushion adapted to be positioned against a patient's face in use; and
a forehead support provided to the frame, the forehead support comprising:
a support post provided to the frame; and
a pair of arms extending from the support post, each of the pair of arms including an upper headgear connector adapted to connect to a respective one of a pair of upper headgear straps of headgear,
wherein at least one of the pair of arms is adapted to rotate relative to the support post about an axis that extends transverse to the support post so as to adjust an included angle between the pair of arms, and
wherein said axis is adapted to extend substantially perpendicular to the patient's face in use.
2. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein at least one of the pair of arms is adapted to move via at least one of a sliding or pivoting motion.
3. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein each of the arms are free to rotate relative to the support post.
4. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein each of the arms includes a hole at one end, and the forehead support further comprises a bolt adapted to pass through each hole and into a corresponding hole in the support post.
5. The patient interface according to claim 4 , further comprising a wing nut on an end of the bolt to secure the arms once adjusted to a desired angle.
6. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein each of the arms is adapted to support a forehead pad.
7. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein each of the arms includes a slot arrangement adapted to receive a clip adapted to engage a support strap.
8. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the included angle is adjustable over a range of about 240° or less.
9. The patient interface according to claim 8 , wherein the included angle is adjustable over a range of about 180° or less.
10. The patient interface according to claim 8 , wherein the included angle is adjustable over a range of about 100°-150°.
11. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein each of the arms includes a free end, and the free end of one of the pair of arms is spaced and separated from the free end of the other of the pair of arms.
12. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the forehead support is Y-shaped.
13. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein each arm is structured to transmit a force from the headgear, the force having a component in both a horizontal direction and a vertical direction, adapted to pull the patient interface up the patient's face.
14. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the headgear includes a pair of lower headgear straps attached to the frame and the pair of upper headgear straps attached to respective arms of the forehead support.
15. The patient interface according to claim 14 , wherein the upper headgear straps are adapted to generate horizontal and vertical force vectors when a force is applied thereto.
16. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the frame includes an aperture adapted to receive pressurized gas from an air delivery tube.
17. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the cushion includes a full-face cushion.
18. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein said axis extends perpendicular to the support post.
19. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the pair of arms are adjustable within a common plane.
20. The patient interface according to claim 1 , further comprising a forehead pad provided to each of the pair of arms.
21. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein each of the pair of arms is adapted to rotate relative to the support post about said axis.
22. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the included angle is provided within a plane adapted to extend generally parallel to the patient's face.
23. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein the pair of arms are rotatable to form a general Y-shape when viewed from a front of the patient interface.
24. The patient interface according to claim 1 , wherein said axis is adapted to extend through a vertex of the included angle.
25. A patient interface for delivering a supply of breathable gas at positive pressure to a patient for treatment of sleep disordered breathing, the patient interface comprising:
a frame;
a cushion provided to the frame, the cushion adapted to be positioned against a patient's face in use; and
a forehead support provided to the frame, the forehead support comprising:
a support post provided to the frame; and
a pair of arms extending from the support post,
wherein each of the pair of arms is adapted to rotate relative to the support post about a common axis that extends transverse to the support post so as to adjust an included angle between the pair of arms, and
wherein each of the pair of arms is adapted to rotate about said common axis independent from one another.
