Abstract

A device for securing a source of LED light to a heat sink includes an LED light source engaging surface that is arranged and configured to engage at least a portion of the source of LED light and which is provided with an integrated force applying spring. Further, the device may include a continuous metallic path extending between the sources of LED light and the surface.

Claims (11)

1. A device for securing a LED light source module against a mounting surface comprising:

a module housing arranged to mount the LED light source module in an installed position against the mounting surface, wherein the module housing comprises a metal component having a thickness, wherein a substantial portion of the module housing extends above the LED light source module no greater than the thickness of the metal component, and wherein the module housing has a first engagement feature; and

an electrically insulating connector housing in which is disposed at least a portion of at least one electrical connector, wherein the at least one electrical connector is arranged for electrically coupling an external conductor to an electrical contact pad of the LED light source module, wherein the electrically insulating connector housing has a second engagement feature, and wherein the second engagement feature is cooperable with the first engagement feature to removeably snap-fit the electrically insulating connector housing to the module housing.

2. The device as recited in claim 1 , wherein the module housing further comprises at least one aperture for receiving one or more fasteners used to secure the module housing to the mounting surface.

3. The device as recited in claim 1 , wherein the metal component comprises a monolithic metal construction.

4. The device as recited in claim 2 , wherein one or more metal fasteners that secure the module housing to the mounting surface form at least one continuous metal path between the module housing and the mounting surface.

5. The device as recited in claim 1 , wherein the module housing further comprises a set arms, at least one of which is deflectable for grasping an accessory attachable to the module housing.

6. The device device as recited in claim 1 , wherein the at least one electrical connector is connected to at least one wire and wherein the at least one wire comprises the external conductor.

7. The device as recited in claim 6 , wherein the at least one electrical connector comprises at least one push-in type connector for engaging the at least one wire.

8. The device as recited claim 1 , wherein the metal component has a locating feature that is co-operable with a feature of the LED light source module.

9. The device as recited in claim 1 , wherein the second engagement feature comprises a pair of opposed recesses formed in the electrically insulating housing and the first engagement feature comprises a pair of opposed leaf springs formed from the metal component.
