Abstract

An induction displacement unit comprising an induction plenum comprising a plurality of first nozzles communicating with a first discharge plenum and a plurality of second nozzles communicating with a second discharge plenum, a return air plenum, a heating coil disposed between the return air plenum and the first discharge plenum, a cooling coil disposed between the return air plenum and the second discharge plenum, the induction plenum vertically disposed between the heating coil and the cooling coil, the heating coil disposed in an upper portion of the unit, the first discharge plenum disposed to induce a substantially vertical discharge, and the second discharge plenum disposed to induce a substantially horizontal discharge.

Claims (27)

1. An induction displacement unit comprising;

an induction plenum comprising a plurality of first nozzles in communication with a first discharge plenum and a plurality of second nozzles in communication with a second discharge plenum, the induction plenum structurally separating the first discharge plenum from the second discharge plenum;

a return air plenum disposed between the first discharge plenum and the second discharge plenum and structurally separating the first discharge plenum from the second discharge plenum, the induction plenum structurally separating the return air plenum from the first discharge plenum and the second discharge plenum;

a heating coil disposed between the return air plenum and the first discharge plenum and structurally separating the return air plenum from the first discharge plenum;

a cooling coil disposed between the return air plenum and the second discharge plenum and structurally separating the return air plenum from the second discharge plenum;

the induction plenum vertically disposed between the heating coil and the cooling coil, the heating coil disposed in an upper portion of the unit;

the first discharge plenum disposed to induce a substantially vertical discharge; and

the second discharge plenum disposed to induce a substantially horizontal discharge.

2. The induction displacement unit as in claim 1 further comprising a first water control valve connected to the heating coil and a second water control valve connected to the cooling coil.

3. The induction displacement unit as in claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum comprises an inlet damper.

4. The induction displacement unit as in claim 1 further comprising a discharge grille on the upper portion of the unit.

5. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum comprises a single piece.

6. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum is in contact with the return air plenum, the heating coil, the cooling coil, the first discharge plenum and the second discharge plenum.

7. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of first nozzles are directed towards a discharge grille on the upper portion of the unit, and the plurality of second nozzles are directed away from the discharge grille on the upper portion of the unit.

8. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the return plenum is in contact with the induction plenum, the heating coil and the cooling coil.

9. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , further comprising a heated air path through the return plenum, the heating coil and the first discharge plenum and a cooled air path through the return plenum, the cooling coil and the second discharge plenum.

The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , further comprising a heated air path through the return plenum, the heating coil and the first discharge plenum in a first mode of operation, and a cooled air path through the return plenum, the cooling coil and the second discharge plenum in a second mode of operation.

11. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , further comprising a panel coupled to the induction plenum and adjacent to an exterior wall.

12. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum, the heating coil and the cooling coil are disposed in a stacked arrangement.

13. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum comprises a single piece having an upper surface in contact with the first discharge plenum and a lower surface in contact with the second discharge plenum.

The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum comprises a single piece having an upper surface in contact with the first discharge plenum in which the plurality of first nozzles is disposed, and a lower surface in contact with the second discharge plenum in which the plurality of second nozzles is disposed.

15. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum comprises an inlet damper coupled to a prime air inlet opening and a building control system.

16. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the induction plenum comprises a single piece having an upper surface in contact with the first discharge plenum, a lower surface in contact with the second discharge plenum and a vertical surface opposite a perforated front cover.

17. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , further comprising a perforated front cover extending over the return air plenum and the second discharge plenum.

18. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of first nozzles are configured to induce air flow though the return air plenum and the heating coil and the plurality of second nozzles are configured to induce air flow through the return air plenum and the cooling coil.

19. The induction displacement unit of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of first nozzles are disposed on a first surface and the plurality of second nozzles are disposed on a second surface that is generally opposite from the first surface.

The induction displacement unit of claim 1 further comprising a first water control valve connected to the heating coil, a second water control valve connected to the cooling coil and an inlet damper coupled to the induction plenum, wherein the first water control valve, the second water control valve and the inlet damper are disposed on a single side panel.
