Abstract

In one embodiment, a method, apparatus, and system of authenticating a mobile server may have at least one mobile server configured to execute games of chance on a plurality of mobile gaming devices and an authentication server configured to: determine a location of the at least one mobile server; determine a wireless communication means to communicate with the at least one mobile server based on the location of the at least one mobile server; communicate with the at least one mobile server via the determined wireless communication means; and initiate authentication, by an authentication server, of the at least one mobile server.

Claims (50)

1. A system of authenticating a mobile server, comprising:

at least one mobile server configured to execute games of chance on a plurality of mobile gaming devices;

an authentication server configured to:

determine a location of the at least one mobile server;

determine a wireless communication means to communicate with the at least one mobile server based on the location of the at least one mobile server;

communicate with the at least one mobile server via the determined wireless communication means; and

initiate authentication, by an authentication server, of the at least one mobile server.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the wireless communication means uses at least one satellite.

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising periodically authenticate the at least one mobile server at predetermined period time intervals.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of mobile gaming devices is a portable electronic device.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the initiate authentication further comprises:

determine whether an authentication identifier of the at least one mobile server matches a stored authentication identifier stored on the authentication server.

6. The system of claim 5 , further comprising:

disable the at least one mobile server if it is determined that the authentication identifier of the at least one mobile server does not matches a stored authentication identifier stored on the authentication server; and

enable at least one back-up mobile server.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the initiate authentication further comprises:

determine whether an operating lease is expired; and

determine whether to renew the operating lease if it is determined that the operating lease is expired.

8. A method for authenticating a mobile server, comprising:

obtaining, by an authentication server, authentication information from at least one mobile server;

determining a location of the at least one mobile server;

determining a wireless means to communicate with the at least one mobile server based on the location of the at least one mobile server;

communicating with the at least one mobile server via the determined wireless means;

authenticating, by the authentication server, the at least one mobile server; and

disabling, by the authentication server, the at least one mobile server if it is determined that the authentication identifier of the at least one mobile server does not match the stored authentication identifier stored on the authentication server.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the wireless means uses at least one satellite.

10. The method of claim 8 , further comprising periodically authenticating the at least one mobile server at predetermined period time intervals.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the authenticating further comprises:

determining whether an authentication identifier of the at least one mobile server matches a stored authentication identifier stored on an authentication server.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

enabling at least one back-up mobile server when the at least one mobile server is disabled.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the authenticating further comprises:

determining whether an operating lease is expired; and

determining whether to renew the operating lease if it is determined that the operating lease is expired.

14. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining whether an operating lease is violated based on the location of the at least one mobile server; and

disabling the at least one mobile server if it is determined that the operating lease is violated.

15. A method for authenticating a mobile server, comprising:

obtaining, by an authentication server, authentication information from at least one mobile server;

determining a location of the at least one mobile server;

determining a wireless means to communicate with the at least one mobile server based on the location of the at least one mobile server;

communicating with the at least one mobile server via the determined wireless means;

authenticating, by the authentication server, the at least one mobile server;

determining, after the authenticating by the authentication server, whether an operating lease for the at least one mobile server is valid or violated; and

disabling the at least one mobile server if it is determined that the operating lease is not valid or is violated.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the determining whether an operating lease is valid further comprises determining whether operating lease is expired based on a granted time period.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the determining whether an operating lease is violated is based on the location of the at least one mobile server.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the disabling further comprises enabling at least one back-up mobile server.

19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the at least one mobile server is a gaming mobile server configured to store and receive games of chance data.

20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the at least one mobile server is configured to transmit the games of chance data to a plurality of mobile gaming devices.
