Abstract

A phototherapy apparatus with interactive user interface for treating biological tissue of an animal or human target. The user interface comprises intuitive graphic menus which allow the clinicians or practitioners to define the properties of the biological tissue through easily observable physical characteristics such as weight, skin color, and hair color of the patient. The central control unit of the phototherapy apparatus then automatically optimizes the parameters of the light source according to the properties of the biological tissue and generates an appropriate treatment protocol to produce the optimum phototherapy result.

Claims (21)

1. A method comprising:

displaying, by a display of a phototherapy apparatus, a first user interface that concurrently displays:

(i) one or more first user interface controls with which user input is able to select one of multiple different animals,

(ii) one or more second user interface controls with which user input is able to select one of multiple available skin colors for a selected one of the multiple different animals, and

(iii) one or more third user interface controls with which user input is able to select one of multiple available coat colors for the selected one of the multiple different animals;

receiving, by the phototherapy apparatus, a first user input that interacts with the one or more first user interface controls to select a particular animal of the multiple different animals;

receiving, by the phototherapy apparatus, a second user input that interacts with the one or more second user interface controls to select a particular skin color from among multiple available skin colors for the particular animal;

receiving, by the phototherapy apparatus, a third user input that interacts with the one or more third user interface controls to select a particular coat color from among multiple available coat colors for the particular animal;

displaying, by the phototherapy apparatus, an indication that user inputs selected the particular animal, the particular skin color for the particular animal, and the particular coat color for the particular animal;

displaying, by the display of the phototherapy apparatus, a second user interface that concurrently displays:

(i) one or more fourth user interface controls with which fourth user input is able to select one of multiple areas, of the particular animal that was selected, that are available for treatment, and

(ii) one or more fifth user interface controls with which fifth user input is able to select one of multiple conditions, of the particular animal that was selected, to treat; and

selecting, by the phototherapy apparatus, parameters of therapeutic light for administration, in accordance with the first user input, the second user input, the third user input, the fourth user input, and the fifth user input.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first user interface displays a depiction of each of the multiple different animals.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first user interface further concurrently displays:

(iv) one or more sixth user interface controls with which user input is able to select one of multiple available weights of the particular animal that was selected.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the one or more sixth user interface controls is a pull down menu that is displayed for the particular animal that was selected.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the first user interface displays the pull down menu for the particular animal that was selected without concurrently displaying another pull down menu for another of the multiple different animals.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying, by the display of the phototherapy apparatus, a third user interface that identifies the parameters of therapeutic light for administration, that were selected in accordance with the first user input, the second user input, the third user input, the fourth user input, and the fifth user input.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the third user interface includes one or more sixth user interface controls with which user input is to modify the identified parameters by changing one or more of: (a) a time of the light therapy, (b) a power or energy of the light therapy, or (c) a pulsed rate of the light therapy.
