VEHICLE AND DEVICE SOFTWARE UPDATES PROPAGATED VIA A VIRAL COMMUNICATION CONTACT
A system for vehicle to another party communications that includes a vehicle personality module adapted to create a vehicle personality and a communications system that utilizes the created vehicle personality for one or more communications instead of a user's profile. The one or more communications are associated with one or more of an identifier and an icon representing the vehicle personality, with this identifier and/or icon sent with at least one communication and displayable to the recipient of the communication.
1 . A system for updating one or more of software and firmware in a vehicle comprising:
a status module adapted to determine the availability of an update to the one or more of software and firmware; and
a message module adapted to query one or more other vehicles to determine if they have the update; and
a vehicle firmware/software system adapted to download all or a portion of the update from the one or more other vehicles.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the update is partially downloaded from a plurality of the one or more other vehicles.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the update is partially updated from a central repository.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the update is downloaded based on one or more rules or preferences.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the update is downloaded based on a projected proximity to the one or more other vehicles.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the update is downloaded directly from the one or more other vehicles.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the update is sharable with one or more additional vehicles.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein a diagnostics module confirms the integrity of the update.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the message module broadcasts the availability of the update to one or more additional vehicles.
10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the message module confirms the update is correct for the vehicle.
11 . A method for updating one or more of software and firmware in a vehicle comprising:
determining the availability of an update to the one or more of software and firmware; and
querying one or more other vehicles to determine if they have the update; and
downloading all or a portion of the update from the one or more other vehicles.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the update is partially downloaded from a plurality of the one or more other vehicles.
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the update is partially updated from a central repository.
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the update is downloaded based on one or more rules or preferences.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the update is downloaded based on a projected proximity to the one or more other vehicles.
16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the update is downloaded directly from the one or more other vehicles.
17 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the update is sharable with one or more additional vehicles.
18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein a diagnostics module confirms the integrity of the update.
19 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the message module broadcasts the availability of the update to one or more additional vehicles.
20 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the message module confirms the update is correct for the vehicle.
