TRAVEL ROUTE ALTERATION BASED ON USER PROFILE AND BUSINESS
Methods and systems for an improved navigation environment are provided. The navigation system can route users to preferred locations based on user profile data and past experience with the present driver and other drivers. The system provides more cost-effective and time-sensitive routing by incorporating other information about destinations. Further, the navigation system provides enhanced guidance in foreign or unfamiliar locations by incorporating experience from other drivers and other data.
1 . A method for providing navigation information for a conveyance, comprising:
a vehicle control system, including a processor, generating a route to a destination;
the vehicle control system communicating with a data source;
the vehicle control system determining an amount of activity at the destination based on data from the data source;
the vehicle control system determining if an alternate route is necessary based on the amount of activity; and
if an alternate route is necessary, the vehicle control system generating an alternate route.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
the vehicle control system determining an alternate destination; and
based on the alternate destination, the vehicle control system determining the alternate route.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the vehicle control system determines a product desired by a user at the destination.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the product determination is based on information in a user profile.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the vehicle control system determines the alternate destination based on the product.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein there is too much activity at the destination if it will cause an undue delay.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the undue delay is more than a time required to travel to the alternate destination.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising, if an alternate route is not necessary, maintaining the route.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the amount of activity is based on a number of people at the destination.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the amount of activity is based on parking information at the destination.
11 . A conveyance comprising:
a processor operable to execute one or more modules, the modules comprising:
a route suggestion module operable to:
generate a route to a destination;
communicate with a data source;
determine an amount of activity at the destination based on data from the data source;
determine if an alternate route is necessary based on the amount of activity; and
if an alternate route is necessary, generate an alternate route.
12 . The conveyance of claim 11 , wherein the route suggestion module is further operable to:
determine an alternate destination; and
based on the alternate destination, determine the alternate route, wherein the vehicle control system determines a product desired by a user at the destination, wherein the product determination is based on information in a user profile, wherein the vehicle control system determines the alternate destination based on the product.
13 . The conveyance of claim 12 , wherein there is too much activity at the destination if it will cause an undue delay, and wherein the undue delay is more than a time required to travel to the alternate destination.
14 . The conveyance of claim 13 wherein the route suggestion module is further operable to, if an alternate route is not necessary, maintain the route.
15 . The conveyance of claim 11 , wherein the amount of activity is based on one of a number of people at the destination or parking information at the destination.
16 . A non-transitory computer readable medium stored on a storage medium and having instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to perform a method, the instructions comprising:
instructions to generate a route to a destination;
instructions to communicate with a data source;
instructions to determine an amount of activity at the destination based on data from the data source;
instructions to determine if an alternate route is necessary based on the amount of activity; and
if an alternate route is necessary, instructions to generate an alternate route.
17 . The computer readable medium of claim 16 , further comprising:
instructions to determine an alternate destination; and
based on the alternate destination, instructions to determine the alternate route, wherein the vehicle control system determines a product desired by a user at the destination, wherein the product determination is based on information in a user profile, wherein the vehicle control system determines the alternate destination based on the product.
18 . The computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein there is too much activity at the destination if it will cause an undue delay, and wherein the undue delay is more than a time required to travel to the alternate destination.
19 . The computer readable medium of claim 16 , further comprising, if an alternate route is not necessary, instructions to maintain the route.
20 . The computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the amount of activity is based on one of a number of people at the destination or parking information at the destination.
