Abstract

Pest controlling compositions exhibiting enhanced pesticidal activity levels are disclosed. In one embodiment, a composition includes at least one pesticide, at least one proteinaceous material and at least one polymeric material. In this embodiment, the composition exhibits enhanced pesticidal activity levels compared to a composition dissimilar only in not having the at least one proteinaceous material and the at least one polymeric material. Still, alternative embodiment pesticide compositions exhibiting enhanced activity levels are disclosed.

Claims (13)

1. A composition, comprising from about 2% to about 25% by weight of at least one spinosyn, from about 15% to about 75% by weight of a protemaceous material selected from the group consisting of egg albumen, bovine serum albumin, whey, gelatin and zein, and from about 24% to about 70% by weight of a polymeric material selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, a vinyl acrylic latex and a terpene polymer, wherein the weight percentages of the at least one spinosyn, the protemaceous material, and the polymeric material are based on the total weight of the composition exclusive of any weight attributed to water.

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the spinosyn is selected from the group consisting of spinetoram and spinosad.

3. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the spinosyn comprises spinetoram.

4. The composition of claim 1 , which includes a ratio by weight between the protemaceous material and the at least one spinosyn between about 2:1 to about 8:1.

5. The composition of claim 4 , which includes a ratio by weight between the polymeric material and the at least one spinosyn between about 1.6:1 to about 7:1.

6. The composition of claim 5 , which includes a ratio by weight between the proteinaceous material and the polymeric material between about 2:1 to about 5:1.

7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the proteinaceous material comprises egg albumen.

8. A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a composition according to claim 1 .

9. A method, comprising spray drying a liquid composition according to claim 1 to provide a solid composition.

10. A composition, comprising at least one spinosyn, a proteinaceous material selected from the group consisting of egg albumen, bovine serum albumin, whey, gelatin and zein, and a polymeric material selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, a vinyl acrylic latex and a terpene polymer, wherein the proteinaceous material is present relative to the at least one spinosyn at a ratio by weight from about 1:1 to about 8:1 and the polymeric material is present relative to the at least one spinosyn at a ratio by weight from about 1.6:1 to about 8:1.

11. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the at least one spinosyn comprises spinetoram and the proteinaceous material comprises egg albumen.

12. A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a composition according to claim 10 .

13. A method, comprising spray drying a liquid composition according to claim 10 to provide a solid composition.
