Abstract

A method for performing transactions comprises receiving registration information and money transfer transaction specifications, generating a distribution profile based on the registration information, and storing the money transfer transaction specifications in the distribution profile. The distribution profile is identified based on an initiation instruction and associated user authentication data, and one of the money transfer transaction specifications in the distribution profile is identified based on the initiation instruction. Payment source status is verified according to the identified money transfer transaction specification, and a staged send transaction is initiated, based on the payment source status at the time the send transaction is initiated.

Claims (47)

1. A method comprising:

receiving registration information and money transfer transaction specifications from an access portal comprising a computer, the registration information including associated customer authentication data of a customer and identifying a payment source for staging a plurality of staged send transactions based on the money transfer transaction specifications;

generating a distribution profile at a data center, based on the registration information;

storing the money transfer transaction specifications in the distribution profile at the data center;

identifying the distribution profile at the data center, in response to an initiation instruction and the associated customer authentication data presented by the customer;

identifying one of the money transfer transaction specifications in the distribution profile based on the initiation instruction, wherein the distribution profile is only available for use if the customer authentication data are correctly presented;

verifying a status of the payment source for funding one of the staged send transactions, according to the identified money transfer transaction specification; and

initiating the staged send transaction for delivery of a send amount based on the status of the payment source at a time the send transaction is initiated;

wherein the payment source is funded by payment to an agent; and

wherein the send amount is set at a time of the initiation instruction and is not included in the identified money transfer transaction specification.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer comprises a mobile computer.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer comprises a personal computer accessible to the customer.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the customer authentication data comprise a code presented by the customer as part of the initiation instructions.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the authentication data further comprise a personal identification number of the customer.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the customer authentication data comprise a digital signature presented by the customer.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authentication data comprise biometric data of the customer.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the payment source is funded by payment to an agent of a non-bank financial institution (NBFI).

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein delivery of the send amount is initiated only after the agent receives the payment for the staged send transaction.

10. A transaction system comprising:

an access portal comprising a mobile device configured to receive registration information and money transfer transaction specifications, the registration information including associated customer authentication data of a customer and identifying a payment source for staging a plurality of send transactions based on the money transfer transaction specifications;

a database configured to store a distribution profile based on the registration information, wherein the money transfer transaction specifications are stored in the distribution profile; and

a controller configured to:

identify one of the money transfer transaction specifications stored in the distribution profile in response to an initiation instruction and the associated user authentication data received from the customer, wherein the distribution profile is only available for use if the customer authentication data are correctly presented;

verify a status of the payment source for funding one of the staged send transactions, according to the identified money transfer transaction specification; and

initiate the staged send transaction for delivery of a send amount, based on the payment source having available funds for the delivery at a time the send transaction is initiated;

wherein the payment source is funded by payment at an agent location; and

wherein the send amount is determined at the time the send transaction is initiated, and is not included in the identified money transfer transaction specification.

11. The transaction system of claim 10 , wherein the authentication data comprise a code presented by the customer as part of the initiation instruction.

12. The transaction system of claim 11 , wherein delivery of the send amount is initiated only after the payment is received at the agent location.

13. The transaction system of claim 10 , wherein the mobile device comprises a mobile phone or mobile computer.

14. The transaction system of claim 13 , wherein the customer authentication data comprise a digital signature stored in the mobile device.

15. The transaction system of claim 14 , wherein the digital signature is presented by the customer as part of the initiation instruction.

16. The transaction system of claim 10 , wherein the customer authentication data comprise a personal identification number presented by the customer.

17. The transaction system of claim 10 , wherein the customer authentication data comprise biometric data derived from a fingerprint of the customer.

18. A method comprising:

receiving registration information and money transfer transaction specifications from an access portal comprising a computing device, the registration information including associated customer authentication data of a customer and identifying a payment source for staging a plurality of staged send transactions based on the money transfer transaction specifications;

generating a distribution profile at a data center, based on the registration information;

storing the money transfer transaction specifications in the distribution profile at the data center;

identifying the distribution profile at the data center, in response to an initiation instruction and the associated customer authentication data presented by the customer;

identifying one of the money transfer transaction specifications in the distribution profile based on the initiation instruction, wherein the distribution profile is only available for use if the customer authentication data are correctly presented;

verifying a status of the payment source for funding one of the staged send transactions, according to the identified money transfer transaction specification; and

initiating the staged send transaction for delivery of a send amount based on the status of the payment source at a time the send transaction is initiated;

wherein the authentication data comprise a code presented by the customer as part of the initiation instruction;

wherein the send amount is set at a time of the initiation instruction and is not included in the identified money transfer transaction specification; and

wherein delivery of the send amount is initiated only after the payment source is funded by payment at an agent location.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the computing device comprises a personal computer accessible to the customer.

20. The method of claim 18 , wherein the computing device comprises a mobile phone or mobile computer.
