MULTI-SCALE PYRAMID ARRANGEMENT FOR USE IN AN IMAGE SEGREGATION
Multiple sets include multiple scale-spaced pyramids representing each of the image and selected characteristics of the image relevant to the identification of the illumination and material aspects of the image.
1 . An automated, computerized method for processing an image, comprising the steps of:
providing an image file depicting an image, in a computer memory;
forming a set of scaled-spaced pyramid representations of the image file, the set of scaled-spaced pyramids including a scale-spaced pyramid representing the image and at least one image characteristic scale-spaced pyramid, the image characteristic scale-spaced pyramid representing a characteristic of the image relevant to a segregation of the image into intrinsic illumination and material reflectance components of the image; and
performing an image segregation operation on the image of the image file as a function of the scale-spaced pyramids, to generate intrinsic images corresponding to the image.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the set of scale-spaced pyramids includes a scale-spaced pyramid representing blend pixels of the image, a scale-spaced pyramid representing BIDR normal information for the image and a scale-spaced pyramid representing color flow information for the image.
3 . A computer program product, disposed on a non-transitory computer readable media, the product including computer executable process steps operable to control a computer to: receive an image file depicting an image, form a set of scaled-spaced pyramid representations of the image file, the set of scaled-spaced pyramids including a scale-spaced pyramid representing the image and at least one image characteristic scale-spaced pyramid, the image characteristic scale-spaced pyramid representing a characteristic of the image relevant to a segregation of the image into intrinsic illumination and material reflectance components of the image and perform an image segregation operation on the image of the image file as a function of the scale-spaced pyramids, to generate intrinsic images corresponding to the image.
4 . The computer program product of claim 3 wherein the set of scale-spaced pyramids includes a scale-spaced pyramid representing blend pixels of the image, a scale-spaced pyramid representing BIDR normal information for the image and a scale-spaced pyramid representing color flow information for the image.
