OPERATION OF A BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION DOMAIN MODEL
In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for a human resource management platform that includes applications targeted to solve a variety of human resource and benefits administration management problems. Applications of the human resource management platform include business applications such as benefits administration that may provide a single solution for facilitating employee benefits management and organizational efficiencies through automation of benefit management functions, measurement of benefit provider effectiveness, and the like.
1 . A method comprising:
storing a benefits administration domain model in a persistence layer of a human capital platform that is configured in a non-transitory computer-accessible memory;
manipulating domain objects of the domain model with employee benefits management applications executing on a computer;
configuring the benefits management applications within a business logic layer of the platform; and
presenting with a computer, in a presentation layer of the platform, a user interface for facilitating user interaction with the applications.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user is an employee.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user is a benefits administrator.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the domain model comprises domain objects representing employee information and employee benefits information.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include an employee benefits enrollment application.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include an employee beneficiary and dependent maintenance application.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include an employee life event application.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include an administration application.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include an input file application.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include an output file application.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include a reporting application.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include an employee benefits application that includes employee self-service and administrator self-service features that are accessible via the user interface.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include benefit eligibility applications.
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the benefits administration applications include enrollment applications.
15 . The method of claim 1 , further including storing the benefits administration domain model in a database that is accessible through the presentation layer.
16 . The method of claim 1 , further including updating the domain model with synchronization facilities.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein updating the domain model includes bulk updating of the domain model.
18 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the persistence layer includes security for limiting access to a database containing the domain model.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the security allows a plurality of independently accessible domain models to be stored in the database.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the independently accessible domain models are stored in separate schemas.
