UPDATING AN EFFECTIVE DATED BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION DOMAIN MODEL
In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for a human resource management platform that includes applications targeted to solve a variety of human resource and benefits administration management problems. Applications of the human resource management platform include business applications such as benefits administration that may provide a single solution for facilitating employee benefits management and organizational efficiencies through automation of benefit management functions, measurement of benefit provider effectiveness, and the like.
1 . A method of applying a change to an effective dated domain model, comprising:
accessing a domain model to acquire a current version of a domain object containing employee information and employee benefits information;
determining an effective start date for a change of a portion of the domain object, the domain object being associated with a current generation;
creating a new generation of the domain object that includes a copy of the current generation;
creating a new version of the domain object within the new generation based on a current version; and
allocating the effective start date to the new version.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the change of a portion of the domain object comprises a change to at least one of the employee information and the employee benefits information.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further including separating effective dates from the domain model to facilitate the objects dynamically adjusting to operate with properties and associations in effect as of an effective date.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the domain model is accessible through a persistence layer that includes security for limiting access to a database containing the domain model.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the security allows a plurality of independently accessible domain models to be stored in the database.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the independently accessible domain models are stored in separate schemas.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the effective date is a target date within an effective date range.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further including storing the new generation with a processor in a human resources management database.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the human resources management database is accessible through a persistence layer of a human capital platform.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the new version is a pending state of the domain object.
11 . A method of applying a change to an effective dated domain model, comprising:
accessing a domain model to acquire a current version of a human capital platform domain object;
determining an effective start date for a change of a portion of the domain object, the domain object being associated with a current generation of the platform;
creating a new generation of the platform that includes a copy of the current generation;
creating a new version of the domain object within the new generation based on a current version; and
allocating the effective start date to the new version.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further including separating effective dates from the domain model to facilitate the objects dynamically adjusting to operate with properties and associations in effect as of an effective date.
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the domain model is accessible through a persistence layer that includes security for limiting access to a database containing the domain model.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the security allows a plurality of independently accessible domain models to be stored in the database.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the independently accessible domain models are stored in separate schemas.
16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the effective date is a target date within an effective date range.
17 . The method of claim 11 , further including storing the new generation with a processor in a human resources management database.
18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the new version is a pending state of the domain object.
19 . A system comprising:
a domain model stored in a memory accessible to a networked server, the domain model comprising a current version of a human capital platform domain object;
a benefit change instruction comprising data that describes a change to a portion of the current version of the domain object and at least one date associated with the change instruction;
a business logic layer comprising rules to facilitate determining an effective date of the benefit change based on the at least one date; and
a persistence layer for storing a copy of the current generation of the platform as a new generation, wherein the server creates an effective dated version of the domain object within the new generation based on the change instruction.
20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the determined effective date of the benefit change is associated with the effective dated version of the domain object.
