Abstract

In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for a human resource management platform that includes applications targeted to solve a variety of human resource and benefits administration management problems. Applications of the human resource management platform include business applications such as benefits administration that may provide a single solution for facilitating employee benefits management and organizational efficiencies through automation of benefit management functions, measurement of benefit provider effectiveness, and the like.

Claims (34)

1 . A method, comprising:

transmitting benefits information from a server to a remote computing facility over a network;

presenting the benefits information to a user in a user interface using the computing facility;

receiving a response to the presented benefits information;

transmitting the response to the server;

computing changes to the benefits information based on the response; and

updating a server-accessible domain model of the benefits based on the computed changes.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further including transmitting the changes to the computing facility.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the benefits information from the server to the remote computing facility includes retrieving the benefits information from the domain model.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein retrieving the benefits information is based on a user identifier provided from the user interface.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface runs using FLASH technology.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is built using FLEX technology.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user is a benefits subscriber.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the benefits information includes one or more of: employee profile data; beneficiary data; dependent data; benefit election data; benefit-related event data; employee health data; medical benefits; dental benefits; life insurance benefits; flexible spending account data; and employer paid benefits.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the benefits subscriber is an employee.

10 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the response impacts one or more of: employee profile data; beneficiary data; dependent data; benefit election data; benefit-related event data; employee health data; medical benefits; dental benefits; life insurance benefits; flexible spending account data; and employer paid benefits.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user is a benefits administrator.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the benefits information includes one or more of: enrollment transaction trends; new hire enrollment data; employee search; event search; enrollment status; dependent age data; census data; benefit election data; medical benefit data; billing data; event timeline data; and employee attribute timeline data.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the response impacts one or more of: employee profile data; beneficiary data; dependent data; benefit election data; benefit-related event data; employee health data; medical benefits; dental benefits; life insurance benefits; flexible spending account data; and employer paid benefits.

14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface displays an events timeline.

15 . A method, comprising:

receiving at a first computing facility benefits information representative of employee benefits data stored in a benefits management domain model that is accessible through a persistence layer of a human capital domain platform by a second computing facility;

presenting the benefits information in a user interface using a presentation layer of the human capital platform executing on the first computing facility;

receiving user input to the user interface in response to the presented benefits information; and

transmitting a benefit change description based on the user input to the second computing facility, wherein the benefit change description comprises information that facilitates updating a domain object that comprises the employee benefits in the benefits management domain model.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein receiving the benefits information is in response to the first computing facility transmitting an employee identifier to the second computing facility.

17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the benefit change description is in compliance with an employee benefits management application that is capable of interacting with the benefits management domain model via the persistence layer.

18 . A system comprising:

a persistence layer of a human capital domain platform for storing benefits data for a plurality of employees in a benefits administration domain model;

a user interface portion of a presentation layer of the human capital domain platform through which a user may access benefits information in the benefits administration domain model;

a business logic layer comprising a plurality of rules for accessing and updating the benefits administration domain model; and

at least one employee benefits management application adapted to receive user input from the presentation layer and, based on at least one of the plurality of rules of the business logic layer, update a domain object of the benefits administration domain model, wherein the domain object represents the user accessible benefits information.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the persistence layer includes a database for storing the benefits administration domain model.

20 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the persistence layer includes security features for limiting access to a database containing the domain model.
