Abstract

A decoding method for decoding information content in at least one data packet, which is transmitted from a sender to a receiver via a data link. The information is represented by a bit sequence, which is transformed into a transmittable redundancy version. The information is initially transmitted for a first time in a first data packet from the sender to the receiver. The information is represented by a first redundancy version, which is self-decodable. An incorrect receipt is confirmed by sending a confirmation from the receiver to the sender. The information is retransmitted at least a second time in a second data packet from the sender to the receiver upon receipt of the confirmation, wherein, for representation of the information, a second redundancy version is used, the selection of which is performed in dependence on a coding parameter, describing whether the redundancy version is self-decodable or not.

Claims (24)

1. A telecommunications device for transmitting an information content contained in at least one data packet transmitted from the telecommunications device to a receiver via a data link, the information content being represented by a bit sequence that is enclosed into a transmittable redundancy version, the telecommunications device comprising:

receive/transmit circuitry configured to:

transmit the information content at a first time in a first data packet from the telecommunications device to the receiver, the information content being represented by a first, self-decodable redundancy version and a first rate matching pattern selected from a set of at least two self-decodable rate matching patterns that are determined by a redundancy version parameter indicating a rate matching pattern;

receive a confirmation of an incorrect receipt from the receiver at the telecommunications device;

retransmit the information content at a second time in a second data packet from the telecommunications device to the receiver upon receipt of the confirmation, thereby using a second redundancy version for representation of the information content, the second redundancy version being selected in dependence of a coding rate and a second, self-decodable redundancy version if the coding rate is lower than a predefined upper coding rate, and the receive/transmit circuitry further configured to select a further rate matching pattern using the redundancy version parameter, the further rate matching pattern being different than the first rate matching pattern used in the first data packet;

receive a further confirmation of an incorrect receipt from the receiver at the telecommunications device; and

retransmit the information content at a third time in a third data packet from the telecommunications device to the receiver upon receipt of the further confirmation, thereby using a third redundancy version for representation of the information content, the third redundancy version being selected in dependence of a further coding rate and a third, self-decodable redundancy version if the further coding rate is higher than the predefined upper coding rate, and the receive/transmit circuitry further configured to select another rate matching pattern using the redundancy version parameter, the another rate matching pattern being different than the first rate matching pattern used in the first data packet and the same as the further rate matching pattern used in the second data packet.

2. The telecommunications device of claim 1 , wherein the predefined upper coding rate is equal to 1/2.

3. The telecommunications device of claim 1 , wherein selection of the second redundancy version is based on a puncturing parameter describing whether the second redundancy version has been produced with or without a puncturing of the bit sequence.

4. The telecommunications device of claim 1 , wherein selection of the second redundancy version is based on a transmission number parameter describing a number n of retransmissions of information content in an n th data packet.

The telecommunications device of claim 4 , wherein a set of redundancy versions can be derived from the bit sequence, and a first subset of the set of redundancy versions being available for a first range of numbers of transmissions and a second subset of the set of redundancy versions being available for a second range of numbers of transmissions.

6. The telecommunications device of claim 5 , wherein the first subset and the second subset of the set of redundancy versions are partly distinct from one another.

7. The telecommunications device of claim 5 , wherein the first subset and the second subset of the set of redundancy versions are completely distinct from one another.

8. The telecommunications device of claim 5 , wherein the second subset of the set of redundancy versions is a superset of the first subset of the set of redundancy versions.

9. The telecommunications device of claim 1 , wherein the receive/transmit circuitry is further configured to:

send at least one retransmission of the information content;

determine a number of information contents sent in parallel; and

use the number as a process number parameter for selecting the redundancy version.

10. The telecommunications device of claim 9 , wherein the receive/transmit circuitry is further configured to:

combine at least two parameters to obtain a further parameter.

11. The telecommunications device of claim 1 , wherein the receive/transmit circuitry is further configured to:

reset a retransmission number to an original value further to a control confirmation indicating incorrect decoding of the redundancy version that is foreseen and, upon receipt of the control confirmation.

12. The telecommunications device of claim 1 , wherein the receive/transmit circuitry is further configured to:

describe the redundancy version by a parameter s, the parameter s denoting whether or not the redundancy version is self-decodable.
