Indoor-Outdoor Exercise System
An embodiment of an exercise system includes an exercise monitoring device that gathers data regarding an outdoor exercise routine. Additionally, a remote communication system communicatively connectable to the exercise monitoring device is receptive to the data regarding the outdoor exercise routine such that the remote communication system generates an exercise program based on the data regarding the outdoor exercise routine. Furthermore, an exercise device that is communicatively connectable to the remote communication system may receive the exercise program and simulate one or more aspects of the outdoor exercise routine.
1 . An exercise device, comprising:
a controller communicatively connected to a remote device, which is capable of generating an exercise program based on previously gathered data regarding a previously performed exercise routine at a remote location; and
the controller being capable of simulating the previously performed exercise routine as a current exercise routine in response to receiving the previously gathered data.
2 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein current data regarding an exerciser's performance of the current exercise routine is gathered during the exerciser's performance of the current exercise routine.
3 . The exercise device of claim 2 , wherein the controller is capable of saving the current data on the exercise device.
4 . The exercise device of claim 2 , wherein the controller is capable of sending the current data to the remote device.
5 . The exercise device of claim 2 , wherein the controller is capable of making a comparison of the previously gathered data with the current data.
6 . The exercise device of claim 5 , wherein the controller is capable of presenting a prompt to an exerciser performing the current exercise routine based on the comparison.
7 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the remote device is a remote communication system.
8 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the remote device is a computer.
9 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the remote device is a networked device.
10 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the remote device is an exercise monitoring device.
11 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the exercise device is a treadmill.
12 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the exercise device is an elliptical.
13 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the exercise device is a stationary bicycle.
14 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is capable of operating at least one feature of the exercise device.
15 . The exercise device of claim 14 , wherein the at least one feature includes an incline of the exercise device.
16 . The exercise device of claim 14 , wherein the at least one feature includes a resistance of the exercise device.
17 . The exercise device of claim 14 , wherein the at least one feature includes a speed of the exercise device.
18 . The exercise device of claim 14 , wherein the at least one feature includes a side-to-side tilt of the exercise device.
19 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the previously performed exercise routine is an outdoor exercise routine, and the current exercise routine is an indoor routine.
20 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is capable of synchronizing control commands of features of the exercise device with images of a scene where the previously performed exercise routine occurred.
21 . An exercise device, comprising:
a controller communicatively connected to a remote communication system, which is capable of executing an exercise program based on gathered data regarding an outdoor exercise routine;
the controller being capable of simulating an exercise route of the outdoor exercise routine in response to receiving the exercise program, wherein the gathered data regarding an exerciser's performance of the exercise route is gathered during the exerciser's performance of the exercise route.
22 . The exercise device of claim 21 , wherein the exercise device comprises at least one of a display and a speaker.
23 . The exercise device of claim 21 , wherein the exercise device generates the exercise program by creating one or more control commands that cause adjustments to one or more operating parameters of the exercise device.
24 . The exercise device of claim 23 , wherein the adjustments to the one or more operating parameters simulate one or more aspects of the outdoor exercise routine.
25 . The exercise device of claim 24 , wherein the one or more simulated aspects of the outdoor exercise routine include at least one of an incline, a decline, and a speed.
26 . The exercise device of claim 23 , wherein the exercise device generates the exercise program by synchronizing one or more images of the outdoor exercise routine with the one or more control commands.
27 . The exercise device of claim 26 , wherein simulation the exercise route comprises presenting the one or more images of the outdoor exercise routine on a display of the exercise device.
28 . An exercise device, comprising:
a processor and memory, wherein the memory comprises code executable by the processor to:
receive previously gathered data from a remote device;
generate an exercise program based on the previously gathered data;
simulate the exercise program as a current exercise routine; and
gather current data regarding the current exercise routine.
29 . The exercise device of claim 28 , wherein the code is further executable by the processor to make a comparison the current data with the previously gathered data.
30 . The exercise device of claim 29 , wherein the code is further executable by the processor to prompt an exerciser performing the current exercise routine based on the comparison.
31 . The exercise device of claim 28 , wherein the code is further executable by the processor to send the current data to the remote device.
32 . The exercise device of claim 28 , wherein the previously gathered data regards a previously performed exercise routine.
