Abstract

An apparatus may include one or more memories and one or more processors. The one or more processors may be configured to execute instructions to facilitate providing a first window for display while hiding from display one or more additional windows. The instructions may facilitate receiving a switching input. The instructions may facilitate, in response to the switching input, providing a plurality of windows for display. The providing a plurality of windows may include changing a display view from the first window to the plurality of windows. The instructions may facilitate selecting one of the plurality of windows. The selecting one of the plurality of windows may include changing the display view from the plurality of windows to the selected one of the plurality of windows while hiding from display one or more other windows. Methods for displaying windows and machine-readable storage medium are also disclosed.

Claims (53)

1. An apparatus, comprising:

one or more memories;

one or more processors configured to execute instructions to facilitate:

providing a first window for display on the apparatus while hiding from display one or more additional windows;

receiving a switching input;

in response to the switching input, providing a plurality of windows for display on the apparatus, wherein the providing a plurality of windows comprises changing a display view from the first window to the plurality of windows, wherein the plurality of windows comprises the first window and the one or more additional windows; and

selecting one of the plurality of windows to change the display view from the plurality of windows to the selected one of the plurality of windows while hiding from display one or more other windows, wherein the plurality of windows comprises the selected one of the plurality of windows and the one or more other windows,

wherein:

each of the plurality of windows comprises content,

the display view on the apparatus limits a maximum number of windows whose content is viewable at a given time, and

when a total number of windows available for display exceeds the maximum number, the providing a plurality of windows comprises hiding from the display view respective content of a number of windows that exceeds the maximum number.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the one or more processors are configured to execute instructions to facilitate, in response to a second switching input, changing the display view from the selected one of the plurality of windows to a plurality of windows.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the one or more processors are configured to execute instructions to facilitate sliding, off the display view, one of the plurality of windows displayed on the apparatus, wherein the sliding causes removal of the one of the plurality of windows from windows available for display.

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein:

the providing a plurality of windows comprises overlapping the plurality of windows in a first direction, and

the sliding comprises sliding the one of the plurality of windows in a second direction different from the first direction.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the one or more processors are configured to execute instructions to facilitate touching the display view to cause one or more windows of the plurality of windows whose respective content are hidden from display to be visible on the apparatus.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the providing a plurality of windows comprises providing at least one of the number of windows for display such that only an outline of each of the at least one of the number of windows is visible on the apparatus.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the providing a plurality of windows comprises providing the plurality of windows for display as a stack in the display view on the apparatus.

8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein:

a portion of each window in the stack overlaps a portion of at least one other window in the stack in a vertical direction, and

the one or more processors are configured to execute instructions to facilitate touching the display view to cause respective content of one or more windows of the plurality of windows whose respective content are hidden from display to be visible on the apparatus, wherein the touching comprises touching a bottom of the stack to cause respective content of the one or more windows to be visible by moving upward the one or more windows.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of windows are associated with a browser application.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein an order of the plurality of windows displayed represents an order of accessing the browser contexts via the browser application.

11. A machine-readable non-transitory storage medium comprising instructions stored therein, the instructions for performing one or more operations, the instructions comprising:

one or more instructions for providing a first window for display while hiding from display one or more additional windows;

one or more instructions for, based on a switching input, providing a plurality of windows for display, wherein the providing a plurality of windows comprises changing a display view from the first window to the plurality of windows, wherein the plurality of windows comprises the first window and the one or more additional windows; and

one or more instructions for selecting one of the plurality of windows to change the display view from the plurality of windows to the selected one of the plurality of windows while hiding from display one or more other windows, wherein the plurality of windows comprises the selected one of the plurality of windows and the one or more other windows,

wherein:

each of the plurality of windows comprises content,

the display view limits a maximum number of windows whose content is viewable at a given time, and

when a total number of windows available for display exceeds the maximum number, the providing a plurality of windows comprises hiding from the display view respective content of a number of windows that exceeds the maximum number.

12. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the instructions comprise:

one or more instructions for, based on a second switching input, changing the display view from the selected one of the plurality of windows to a plurality of windows.

13. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the instructions comprise:

one or more instructions for sliding, off the display view, one of the plurality of windows, wherein the sliding causes removal of the one of the plurality of windows from windows available for display.

14. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein:

the providing a plurality of windows comprises overlapping the plurality of windows in a first direction, and

the sliding comprises sliding the one of the plurality of windows in a second direction different from the first direction.

15. A machine-implemented method for displaying windows, the method comprising:

providing a first window for display on a device while hiding from display one or more additional windows;

receiving a switching input;

in response to the switching input, providing a plurality of windows for display on the device, wherein the providing a plurality of windows comprises changing a display view from the first window to the plurality of windows, wherein the plurality of windows comprises the first window and the one or more additional windows; and

selecting one of the plurality of windows to change the display view from the plurality of windows to the selected one of the plurality of windows while hiding from display one or more other windows, wherein the plurality of windows comprises the selected one of the plurality of windows and the one or more other windows,

wherein:

each of the plurality of windows comprises content,

the display view on the device limits a maximum number of windows whose content is viewable at a given time, and

when a total number of windows available for display exceeds the maximum number, the providing a plurality of windows comprises hiding from the display view respective content of a number of windows that exceeds the maximum number.

16. The method of claim 15 , further comprising, in response to a second switching input, changing the display view from the selected one of the plurality of windows to a plurality of windows.

17. The method of claim 15 , further comprising sliding, off the display view, one of the plurality of windows displayed on the device, wherein the sliding causes removal of the one of the plurality of windows from windows available for display.
