Abstract

A method for making a payment using a RFID system includes associating a first RFID identifier with a payer account in a database. A purchase type and an associated spending gate definition are received for the first RFID identifier over the network. The spending gate definition is associated with at least one of a plurality of funding sources of the payer account. The purchase type and associated spending gate definition are associated with the first RFID identifier in the database. A payment request is received for a purchase using the first RFID identifier over the network. It is determined that that the payment request includes the purchase type in the database. A payment is made using the at least one funding source of the payer account according to the spending gate definition associated with the purchase type.

Claims (59)

1 . A payer preference information system, comprising:

a non-transitory memory storing a radio frequency identification (RFID) identifier that is associated with a payer;

one or more hardware processors coupled to the memory and operable to read instructions from the memory to perform the steps of:

receiving payer preference information for the RFID identifier over a network, wherein the payer preference information includes non-payment account preferences of the payer;

associating the payer preference information with the RFID identifier in the non-transitory memory;

receiving the RFID identifier through a payee device and, in response, retrieving the payer preference information that is associated with the RFID identifier; and

providing the payer preference information for display on the payee device.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the payer preference information is received from at least one of the payee device and a payment service provider device.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are operable to read instructions from the memory to perform the steps of:

analyzing at least one past transaction that is associated with the payer, wherein the payer preference information is received in response to the analyzing.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the payer preference information includes at least one of payer clothing preference information, payer food preference information, and payer drink preference information.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more hardware processors are operable to read instructions from the memory to perform the steps of:

receiving a spending gate definition for the RFID identifier over the network, wherein the spending gate definition is associated with at least one of a plurality of funding sources of the payer;

associating the spending gate definition with the RFID identifier in the non-transitory memory;

retrieving the spending gate definition that is associated with the RFID identifier in response to receiving the RFID identifier through the payee device; and

processing a payment using the at least one funding source of the payer according to the spending gate definition.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the RFID identifier that is associated with the payer preference information is a first RFID identifier, and wherein the one or more hardware processors are operable to read instructions from the memory to perform the steps of:

associating a second RFID identifier with the first RFID identifier in the non-transitory memory;

receiving the second RFID identifier through the payee device;

determining that the second RFID identifier is associated with the first RFID identifier and, in response, retrieving the payer preference information that is associated with the first RFID identifier; and

providing the payer preference information for display on the payee device.

7 . A method for providing payer preference information, comprising:

receiving payer preference information for an RFID identifier over a network, wherein the payer preference information includes non-payment account preferences of a payer;

associating the payer preference information with the RFID identifier in a database;

receiving the RFID identifier through a payee device and, in response, retrieving the payer preference information that is associated with the RFID identifier; and

providing the payer preference information for display on the payee device.

8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

receiving at least one payer preference information type from a payee that is associated with the payee device, wherein the payer preference information that is received corresponds to the at least one payer preference information type.

9 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising

analyzing at least one past transaction that is associated with the payer, wherein the payer preference information is received in response to the analyzing.

10 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

providing a payee-customized web page for receiving the payer preference information.

11 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the payer preference information includes at least one of payer addressing preference information and payer price range preference information.

12 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

retrieving a spending gate definition that is associated with the RFID identifier in the database in response to receiving the RFID identifier through the payee device; and

processing a payment using at least one funding source of the payer according to the spending gate definition.

13 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the RFID identifier that is associated with the payer preference information is a first RFID identifier that is associated with a second RFID identifier in the database, and wherein the method further comprises:

receiving the second RFID identifier through the payee device;

determining that the second RFID identifier is associated with the first RFID identifier and, in response, retrieving the payer preference information that is associated with the first RFID identifier; and

providing the payer preference information for display on the payee device.

14 . A non-transitory, machine-readable medium comprising a plurality of machine-readable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, are adapted to cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising:

receiving payer preference information for an RFID identifier over a network, wherein the payer preference information includes non-payment account preferences of a payer;

associating the payer preference information with the RFID identifier in a database;

receiving the RFID identifier through a payee device and, in response, retrieving the payer preference information that is associated with the RFID identifier; and

providing the payer preference information for display on the payee device.

15 . The machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the payer preference information is received from at least one of the payee device and a payment service provider device.

16 . The machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are adapted to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:

automatically receiving the payer preference information using a payment history of the payer; and

automatically associating the payer preference information with the RFID identifier.

17 . The machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the payer preference information includes at least one of payer clothing preference information, payer food preference information, and payer drink preference information.

18 . The machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the payer preference information includes at least one of payer addressing preference information and payer price range preference information.

19 . The machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are adapted to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:

retrieving a spending gate definition that is associated with the RFID identifier in the database in response to receiving the RFID identifier through the payee device; and

processing a payment for at least one product or service that is associated with the payer preference information, wherein the payment is processed using at least one funding source of the payer according to the spending gate definition.

20 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are adapted to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:

receiving payer preference information for an RFID identifier over a network, wherein the payer preference information includes non-payment account preferences of a payer;

associating the payer preference information with the RFID identifier in a database;

receiving the RFID identifier through a payee device and, in response, retrieving the payer preference information that is associated with the RFID identifier; and

providing the payer preference information for display on the payee device.
