Method for treating Lyme disease
View Patent ↗The present invention provides a method for treating Lyme disease and/or a Borrelia infection in animals comprising administering to an animal in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of cefovecin.
1. A method for treating Lyme disease in a canine animal comprising administering to said canine animal in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of cefovecin sodium.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein cefovecin sodium is administered at least twice to the canine animal in need thereof.
3. The method of claim 2 wherein the second dose of cefovecin sodium is administered about 10 to 13 days after the first dose of cefovecin sodium.
4. The method of claim 1 wherein cefovecin sodium is administered by subcutaneous injection.
5. The method of claim 1 wherein the therapeutically effective amount of cefovecin sodium is about 8 mg/kg bodyweight of cefovecin.
