Abstract

A method of accessing a channel in a wireless LAN system is disclosed. A method of accessing a channel in a terminal includes receiving TIM information included in a beacon transmitted by an access point, determining a channel access slot allocated to the terminal based on the TIM information, transmitting a data transmission request to the access point in the channel access slot, and receiving data transmission slot allocation information corresponding to the data transmission request from the access point. Accordingly, a time slot can be prevented from unnecessarily wasting.

Claims (32)

1. A method by a terminal performing a slot-based channel access, the method comprising:

receiving Traffic Indication Map (TIM) information included in a beacon transmitted by an access point;

transmitting, to the access point, a Power Save (PS)-Poll frame or a trigger frame in a channel access slot allocated to the terminal and determined based on the TIM information; and

receiving, from the access point, in response to the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame, an acknowledgement (ACK) frame including information on a data frame transmission time,

wherein the transmitting the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame and receiving the ACK frame are performed within the channel access slot.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the channel access slot allocated to the terminal is determined based on a position of an association ID (AID) of the terminal included in the TIM information.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the channel access slot is configured within a duration restricted for transmitting the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame of the terminal.

4. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising receiving the data frame from the access point at the data frame transmission time.

5. A method by an access point for supporting a slot-based channel access of a terminal, the method comprising:

transmitting a beacon including Traffic Indication Map (TIM) information for the terminal;

receiving a Power Save (PS)-Poll frame or a trigger frame from the terminal in a channel access slot allocated to the terminal and determined based on the TIM information; and

transmitting, to the terminal, in response to the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame, an acknowledgement (ACK) frame including information on a data frame transmission time,

wherein the receiving the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame and transmitting the ACK frame are performed within the channel access slot.

6. The method according to claim 5 , wherein the channel access slot allocated to the terminal is determined based on a position of an association ID (AID) of the terminal included in the TIM information.

7. The method according to claim 5 , wherein the channel access slot is configured within a duration restricted for transmitting the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame of the terminal.

8. The method according to claim 5 , further comprising transmitting data frame to the terminal at the data frame transmission time.

9. A terminal performing a slot-based channel access, the terminal comprising:

a transceiver; and

a processor,

wherein the processor is configured to:

receive, using the transceiver, Traffic Indication Map (TIM) information included in a beacon transmitted by an access point;

transmit, using the transceiver, to the access point, a Power Save (PS)-Poll frame or a trigger frame in a channel access slot allocated to the terminal and determined based on the TIM information; and

receive, using the transceiver, from the access point, in response to the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame, an acknowledgement (ACK) frame including information on a data frame transmission time, and

wherein the transmitting the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame and receiving the ACK frame are performed within the channel access slot.

10. An access point for supporting a slot-based channel access of a terminal, the access point comprising:

a transceiver; and

a processor,

wherein the processor is configured to:

transmit, using the transceiver, a beacon including Traffic Indication Map (TIM) information for the terminal;

receive, using the transceiver, a Power Save (PS)-Poll frame or a trigger frame from the terminal in a channel access slot allocated to the terminal and determined based on the TIM information; and

transmit, using the transceiver, to the terminal, in response to the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame, an acknowledgement (ACK) frame including information on a data frame transmission time,

wherein the receiving the PS-Poll frame or the trigger frame and transmitting the ACK frame are performed within the channel access slot.
