Tabacco extract, preparation thereof
View Patent ↗A process is provided for the preparation and/or treatment of a tobacco extract. The process comprises the treatment of a tobacco extract by centrifugation and microfiltration so that it is suitable for administration to a human.
1. A process for the treatment of a tobacco extract, the process comprising:
producing a tobacco extract by extraction of tobacco material with a solvent consisting of water; and
treating the tobacco extract by filtration, centrifugation and microfiltration to render the treated tobacco extract suitable for administration to a human,
wherein the filtration is carried out prior to the centrifugation, and the centrifugation is carried out prior to the microfiltration,
wherein the microfiltration removes microbes from the tobacco extract and no agents that need to be removed at a later stage are added during the process.
2. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the microfiltration comprises using a membrane with a pore size of about 0.2 μm.
3. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the centrifugation removes solid particles from the tobacco extract.
4. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the process does not involve heating the tobacco extract to a temperature above ambient or room temperature.
5. The process according to claim 1 , further comprising treating the tobacco extract by filtration with a membrane having a pore size of about 0.2 μm, prior to the microfiltration.
6. The process according to claim 1 , further comprising:
drying the treated tobacco extract to form a powder.
