Beverage container coated with a resveratrol layer
View Patent ↗The present invention relates to a container for a beverage having an inner coating layer containing resveratrol, a process for preparing such a container, the use of said container for the storage of a beverage and the use of resveratrol as an additive to coating layers of such containers.
1. A container for a beverage, wherein an inner surface of the container is coated with a coating layer comprising a food grade lacquer coating, further comprising monomeric resveratrol as an additive comprising at most 30% of the coating by weight, wherein the monomeric resveratrol is selected from the group consisting of cis-resveratrol, trans-resveratrol and mixtures thereof.
2. The container according to claim 1 , wherein the inner surface of the container is integrally coated with the coating layer comprising resveratrol.
3. The container according to claim 1 , wherein the coating layer comprises resveratrol in a concentration of at least 0.0001 weight %.
4. The container according to claim 1 , wherein the container is made of a substance selected from the group consisting of glass, metal, polymer material, paper, cardboard, and combinations thereof.
5. The container according to claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the coating layer on the inner surface of the container is in the range of between about 3.5 to about 8.4 grams per square meter.
6. The container according to claim 1 , wherein the coating layer comprises a thermoset coating layer.
7. The container according to claim 1 , wherein at least one additional coating layer is present between the coating layer comprising resveratrol and a container wall of the container and wherein the container comprises a metal.
8. The container of claim 1 , wherein the coating layer comprises resveratrol in a concentration of at least 0.1 weight %.
9. The container of claim 1 , wherein the container is made of aluminum.
10. The container of claim 1 wherein the beverage is selected from the group consisting of wine and wine-based drinks.
11. The container of claim 1 wherein the food grade lacquer coating does not contain Bisphenol A.
