Abstract

The present application is directed to systems and methods for transferring data between data backup sites. A backup data transfer of data associated with a client device is scheduled, and backup data is transferred from a source data backup site to a destination data backup site. A backend process associated with the client device is suspended, and a determination is made as to whether all backup data for the client has transferred from the source backup data site to the destination backup data site. Responsive to the determination, the backend process associated with the client device is resumed.

Claims (46)

1. A method for transferring data between data backup sites, comprising:

transferring backup data from a source data backup site to a destination data backup site remote from the source data backup site based on a scheduled backup data transfer, the backup data comprising data associated with a client device;

suspending a backend process associated with the client device;

determining whether all backup data for the client device transferred from the source backup data site to the destination backup data site;

resuming the backend process associated with the client device; and

redirecting the client device to connect to the destination backup data site for accessing the transferred backup data.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein suspending the backend process further comprises suspending the backend process associated with the client device before transferring backup data.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising updating a storage database based on the transfer of backup data to the destination data backup site.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein redirecting the client device to connect to the destination backup data site for accessing the transferred backup data further comprises providing an address of the destination backup data site to the client device, the client device subsequently directly connecting to the destination backup data site to access the transferred backup data.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising scheduling a time for the backup data transfer based on a transfer parameter.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining the backup data for transferring from the source data backup site to the destination data backup site based on a storage parameter.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising scheduling the backup data transfer based on a transfer parameter and the storage parameter.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting a notification to the destination site, the notification comprising information associated with the scheduled data transfer.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising updating a storage database based on the scheduled backup data transfer.

10. A method for transferring data between data backup sites, comprising:

transferring backup data from a source data backup site to a destination data backup site;

suspending the backend process associated with the client device after transferring backup data;

determining whether all backup data for the client device transferred from the source backup data site to the destination backup data site; and

resuming the backend process associated with the client device.

11. A method for transferring data between data backup sites, comprising:

transferring backup data from a source data backup site to a destination data backup site;

suspending a backend process associated with the client device;

determining whether all backup data for the client device transferred from the source backup data site to the destination backup data site;

resuming the backend process associated with the client device, responsive to determining that all backup data for the client device transferred from the source backup data site to the destination backup data site; and

redirecting the client device to connect to the destination backup data site instead of the source backup data site for accessing the transferred backup data, responsive to the determination.

12. A system for transferring data between data sites, the system comprising:

a device comprising a processor and a network interface, the processor executing a user data backup transfer module configured to:

transfer backup data from a source data backup site to a destination data backup site based on a scheduled backup data transfer, the backup data comprising data associated with a client device;

suspend a backend process associated with the client device;

determine that all backup data for the client device transferred from the source backup data site to the destination backup data site; and

resume execution of the backend process associated with the client device, responsive to the determination; and

redirect the client device to connect to the destination backup data site instead of the source backup data site for accessing the transferred backup data, responsive to the determination.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user data backup transfer module is further configured to suspend the backend process associated with the client device before transferring backup data.

14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user data backup transfer module is further configured to update a storage database based on the transfer of backup data to the destination data backup site.

15. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user data backup transfer module is further configured to redirect the client device to connect to the destination backup data site for accessing the transferred backup data.

16. The system of claim 12 , wherein the device further executes a source site schedule module configured to schedule the backup data transfer based on a transfer parameter.

17. The system of claim 12 , wherein the device further executes a source site schedule module configured to determine the backup data for transferring from the source data backup site to the destination data backup site based on a storage parameter.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the source site schedule module is further configured to schedule a time for the backup data transfer based on a transfer parameter and the storage parameter.

19. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user data backup transfer module is further configured to transmit a notification to the destination site, the notification comprising information associated with the scheduled data transfer.

20. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user data backup transfer module is further configured to update a storage database based on the scheduled backup data transfer.

21. A system for transferring data between data sites, the system comprising:

a device comprising a processor and a network interface, the processor executing a user data backup transfer module configured to:

transfer backup data from a source data backup site to a destination data backup site based on a scheduled backup data transfer, the backup data comprising data associated with a client device;

suspend a backend process associated with the client device and executed by the processor or a second processor of the source data backup site in communication with the processor of the device via the network interface, after transferring backup data;

determine that all backup data for the client device transferred from the source backup data site to the destination backup data site; and

resume execution of the backend process associated with the client device by the processor or the second processor of the source data backup site, via the network interface, responsive to the determination.
