Abstract

A headset may comprise at least one ear cup and an ear cup shaper configurable into at least two configurations. When the ear cup shaper is configured in a first of the configurations, the ear cup is shaped to contact the temple of a wearer of the headset. When the adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of the configurations, the ear cup is shaped to accommodate the temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of the headset. The ear cup may comprise a filler material such as foam, and the adjustable ear cup shaper when configured in the second of the configurations may create a depression in the foam. The adjustable ear cup shaper may comprise a strap and/or a plunger.

Claims (52)

1. A system comprising:

a headset comprising at least one ear cup and an adjustable ear cup shaper configurable into at least two configurations, wherein:

when said ear cup shaper is configured in a first of said configurations, said ear cup is shaped to contact the temple of a wearer of said headset;

when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of said configurations, said ear cup is shaped to accommodate the temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of said headset; and

said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a strap.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein:

said ear cup comprises foam; and

when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in said second of said configurations, said adjustable ear cup shaper creates a depression in said foam.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein a tag end of said strap protrudes from said ear cup to enable adjustment of said strap among said first of said configurations and said second of said configurations.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein:

said first of said configurations corresponds to a first amount of tension on said strap; and

said second of said configurations corresponds to a second amount of tension on said strap, said second amount of tension being greater than said first amount of tension.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a retainer configured to maintain a desired amount of tension on said strap.

6. A system comprising:

a headset comprising at least one ear cup and an adjustable ear cup shaper configurable into at least two configurations, wherein:

when said ear cup shaper is configured in a first of said configurations, said ear cup is shaped to contact the temple of a wearer of said headset;

when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of said configurations, said ear cup is shaped to accommodate the temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of said headset; and

said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a plunger.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a magnet and is held in said second of said configurations by a magnetic force of said magnet.

8. The system of claim 6 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a mechanical latch that, when engaged with said plunger, holds said plunger in said second of said positions.

9. The system of claim 6 , wherein:

said ear cup comprises foam; and

when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in said second of said configurations, said adjustable ear cup shaper creates a depression in said foam.

10. A system comprising:

an ear cup shaper configured to be attached to an ear cup of a headset, and, when said adjustable ear cup shaper is attached to said ear cup of said headset, said adjustable ear cup shaper is configurable into at least two configurations, wherein:

when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a first of said configurations, said ear cup is shaped to contact the temple of a wearer of said headset; and

when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in a second of said configurations, said ear cup is shaped to accommodate the temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of said headset; and

said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a strap.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein:

when said adjustable ear cup shaper is configured in said second of said configurations, said adjustable ear cup shaper creates a depression in foam of said ear cup.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein:

said first of said configurations corresponds to a first amount of tension on said strap; and

said second of said configurations corresponds to a second amount of tension on said strap, said second amount of tension being greater than said first amount of tension.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a retainer configured to maintain a desired amount of tension on said strap.

14. The system of claim 10 , wherein a tag end of said strap protrudes from said ear cup to enable adjustment of said strap among said first of said configurations and said second of said configurations.

15. A system comprising:

an ear cup configured to be attached to a headset, the ear cup being configurable, via an adjustable ear cup shaper of said headset, into at least two configurations, wherein:

when said ear cup is configured in a first of said configurations by said adjustable ear cup shaper, said ear cup is shaped to contact the temple of a wearer of said ear cup;

when said ear cup is configured in a second of said configurations by said adjustable ear cup shaper, said ear cup is shaped to accommodate the temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of said ear cup

said ear cup comprises foam;

when said ear cup is configured in said second of said configurations by said adjustable ear cup shaper, a depression is formed in said foam of said ear cup; and

when said ear cup is configured in said first of said configurations by said adjustable ear cup shaper, said depression is not formed in said foam of said ear cup.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein said ear cup shaper comprises a strap configured to form said depression when said ear cup is in said first of said configurations.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein:

said first of said configurations corresponds to a first amount of tension on said strap; and

said second of said configurations corresponds to a second amount of tension on said strap, said second amount of tension being greater than said first amount of tension.

18. The system of claim 16 , wherein a tag end of said strap protrudes from said ear cup to enable adjustment of said strap among said first of said configurations and said second of said configurations.

19. The system of claim 17 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a retainer configured to maintain a desired amount of tension on said strap.

20. The system of claim 15 , wherein said ear cup comprises a plunger configurable between an extended and retracted position.

21. The system of claim 20 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a magnet and is held in said second of said configurations by a magnetic force of said magnet.

22. The system of claim 20 , wherein said plunger forms said depression when in said retracted position.

23. The system of claim 20 , wherein said adjustable ear cup shaper comprises a mechanical latch that, when engaged with said plunger, holds said plunger in said second of said positions.
