Abstract

A digital radiographic detector uses predetermined calibration information corresponding to a first operating temperature of the detector. The calibration data is accessible by the detector to compensate a radiographic image captured by the detector at a second operating temperature different than the first operating temperature. The operating temperature of the detector is monitored at approximately the time at which the radiographic image is captured at the second temperature.

1. A method of operating a digital radiographic detector, the method comprising:

determining calibration data associated with the detector at a first temperature;

storing the calibration data in an electronic table accessible by the detector, the calibration data configured to compensate a radiographic image captured by the detector at a second temperature;

monitoring a temperature of the detector at approximately the time at which the radiographic image is captured at the second temperature;

modifying the stored table of the calibration data by a common factor according to the second temperature;

determining a pixel transfer time of the detector at the first temperature;

determining a pixel transfer time of the detector at the second temperature; and

reading out the radiographic image data from the plurality of pixels at the second temperature using the determined pixel transfer time of the detector at the second temperature.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising predetermining the common factor corresponding to the second temperature and storing it in an electronic memory accessible by the detector according to the monitored temperature.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising calculating the common factor according to a temperature formula which is stored in an electronic memory accessible by the detector.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising measuring a gain response of a plurality of pixels in the detector at the first temperature to determine the calibration data.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising measuring the gain response of the plurality of pixels in the detector at approximately the time of manufacture of the detector.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising measuring a time constant of a plurality of pixels in the detector at the first temperature to determine the calibration data.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising measuring the time constant of the plurality of pixels in the detector at approximately the time of manufacture of the detector.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising measuring an image lag of the plurality of pixels in the detector and modifying the gain response according to the image lag to determine the calibration data.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising accessing the determined pixel transfer time of the detector at the second temperature in an electronic memory.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising calculating the determined pixel transfer time of the detector at the second temperature using a stored temperature formula.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining the pixel transfer time of the detector at the second temperature so that a transfer time to time constant ratio is about the same as the ratio at the first temperature.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

determining a gate voltage of each of the pixels for the first temperature;

determining a gate voltage of each of the pixels for the second temperature; and

reading out the radiographic image data from the plurality of pixels at the second temperature using the determined gate voltage of each of the pixels for the second temperature and using the determined pixel transfer time of the detector at the second temperature so that the transfer time to time constant ratio is about the same as the ratio at the first temperature.

13. A method of operating a digital radiographic detector, the method comprising:

determining a pixel transfer time associated with the detector at a first temperature;

storing the pixel transfer time associated with the detector at the first temperature in an electronic table accessible by the detector;

capturing a radiographic image using the detector at a second temperature;

determining a pixel transfer time associated with the detector at the second temperature; and

reading out the radiographic image data from the detector at the determined pixel transfer time associated with the detector at the second temperature.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the step of determining a pixel transfer time associated with the detector at the second temperature comprises modifying the electronic table by a common factor.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising predetermining the common factor and storing it in an electronic memory in association with the second temperature.

16. The method of claim 14 , further comprising calculating the common factor according to a temperature formula associated with the detector.

17. The method of claim 13 , further comprising measuring the pixel transfer time associated with the detector at the first temperature at approximately the time of manufacture of the detector.

18. The method of claim 13 , further comprising measuring a time constant of a plurality of pixels in the detector at the first temperature to determine the pixel transfer time associated with the detector at the first temperature.

19. The method of claim 13 , further comprising measuring an image lag of a plurality of pixels in the detector at the first temperature to determine the pixel transfer time associated with the detector at the first temperature.

20. A digital radiographic detector comprising:

an electronic memory having stored therein a first pixel transfer time associated with a first temperature of the detector and having stored therein a plurality of temperature factors including a temperature factor associated with a second temperature of the detector;

an electronic memory for storing a digital radiographic image captured at the second temperature of the detector; and

a readout circuit configured to read out a digital radiographic image captured at the first temperature of the detector at the first pixel transfer time and configured to read out from the electronic memory the stored digital radiographic image captured at the second temperature of the detector at the first pixel transfer time adjusted by the temperature factor associated with the second temperature of the detector.
