Abstract

A method for identity verification using biometric data is disclosed herein. The method comprises receiving, by a processor, an image of an identification document and receiving a video associated with a face of a user. A predefined number of frames are selected in the video. Based on the selection, it is determined whether the video depicts a live person. Additionally, the face of the user in the video is compared with the image of the identification document and, based on the comparing, results of the identity verification are provided.

Claims (45)

1. A computer-implemented method for identity verification using biometric data, the method comprising:

receiving, by a processor, an image of an identification document associated with a user;

receiving, by the processor, a video stream associated with a face of the user;

superimposing, by the processor, a partially transparent image of the identification document over the video stream associated with the face;

determining, by the processor, that the face in the video stream is substantially identical to a face in the partially transparent image of the identification document;

based on the determination, capturing a user video of the face of the user;

randomly selecting, by the processor, a predefined number of frames in the user video;

based on the selection, determining, by the processor, whether the user video depicts a live person;

comparing, by the processor, the face of the user in the user video with the image of the identification document; and

based on the comparing, providing, by the processor, results of the identity verification.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining whether the user video depicts a live person includes at least one of detecting an eye movement, detecting a head movement, and detecting a mouth movement.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing, to the user, one or more alphanumeric characters;

instructing the user to read back the one or more alphanumeric characters;

capturing a further video of the user while the user reads back the one or more alphanumeric characters;

based on the capturing, detecting lip movements of the user associated with the user reading the one or more alphanumeric characters back; and

based on the detecting, confirming that the video shows a live person.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

recording a voice of the user while the user reads the one or more alphanumeric characters;

converting the recording to a text;

comparing the text to the one or more alphanumeric characters; and

based on the comparing, confirming that the user is a live person.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the results include one of the following: verifying the identification document as authentic and belonging to the user, rejecting the identification document, and informing a requestor that determination of a status of the identification document is impossible.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising authenticating the identification document based on authenticity characteristics of the identification document, wherein the authenticity characteristics include one or more of the following: a font, a microtext, and a hologram.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving social data associated with one or more social network accounts of the user;

analyzing the social data; and

based on the analysis, providing further results of the identity verification.

8. A system for identity verification using biometric data, the system comprising a processor and a memory comprising computer-readable instructions for execution by the processor, wherein the processor is configured to:

receive an image of an identification document associated with a user;

receive a video stream associated with a face of the user;

superimpose the video stream associated with the face with a partially transparent image of the identification document;

determine that the face from the video stream substantially coincides with a face from the partially transparent image of the identification document;

based on the determination, capture a user video of the face of the user;

randomly select a predefined number of frames in the user video;

based on the selection, determine whether the user video depicts a live person;

compare the face of the user in the user video with the image of the identification document; and

based on the comparison, provide results of the identity verification.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the results include one of the following: verifying the identification document as authentic and belonging to the user, rejecting the identification document, and informing a requestor that determination of a status of the identification document is impossible.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

receive social data associated with one or more social network accounts of the user;

analyze the social data; and

based on the analysis, provide further results of the identity verification.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the analysis includes comparing the social data and data associated with the identification document, wherein the data associated with the identification document is extracted from the image of the identification document.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the social data includes at least one of a number of connections, a duration, a name, one or more photos, one or more video recordings, one or more social interactions, and one or more messages associated with the one or more social network accounts.
