Abstract

Systems, apparatus, methods, and non-transitory media for programmatically grouping consumers are discussed herein. Some embodiments may include a system configured to provide to shared promotion redemptions. The system may include a merchant device with processing circuitry configured to associate multiple consumer accounts with a point-of-sale order. Based on receiving redemption data from a consumer device associated with one of the consumer accounts, the system may be further configured to allow the consumer device to share a selected promotion. For example, the system may determine payment share amounts for each consumer account based on a transaction price of the point-of-sale order and the redemption value of the promotion selected for shared redemption.

Claims (67)

1. A system configured to provide shared promotion redemptions, comprising:

a merchant device including:

communications circuitry configured to connect with consumer devices via a network; and

processing circuitry configured to:

associate a consumer account and one or more other consumer accounts with a point-of-sale order;

determine a transaction price for the point-of-sale order;

receive, via the network, redemption data from a consumer device indicating redemption of a promotion associated with the consumer account, the redemption data further indicating whether to share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts;

determine, based on the redemption data, whether to share the promotion with the one or more other consumers accounts;

determine, based on promotion data defining the promotion stored in a promotion database, a redemption value of the promotion;

in response to determining to share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts, determine a payment share amount for each other consumer account of the one or more other consumer accounts by applying a portion of the redemption value of the promotion corresponding to the other consumer account to the payment share for the other consumer account; and

facilitate a transaction for each of the one or more other consumer accounts based on the payment share amount.

2. The system of claim 1 further comprising:

a communication beacon configured to:

form a direct wireless connection with the consumer devices when the consumer devices are within a direct wireless communicable range of the communication beacon; and

provide a beacon identifier to the consumer devices via the direct wireless connection; and

wherein the processing circuitry of the merchant device is further configured to:

receive an indication that the consumer devices received the beacon identifier from the communication beacon, wherein the consumer devices include the consumer device associated with the consumer account and one or more other consumer devices associated with the one or more other consumer accounts;

associate the consumer account and the one or more other consumer accounts with the point-of-sale order based on receiving the indication that the consumer devices received the beacon identifier.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to provide an indication of the payment share amount to the consumer device.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry configured to determine the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts includes the processing circuitry being configured to determine the payment share amount by applying a promotional value of the promotion.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to, in response to determining to share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts, determine a consumer payment share amount for the consumer account by applying an accepted value of the promotion.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to provide an indication of the consumer payment share amount to the consumer device via the network.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to, in response to determining to not share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts:

determine the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts without applying any portion of the redemption value of the promotion;

determine a consumer payment share amount for the consumer account by applying the redemption value of the promotion; and

facilitate a transaction for the consumer account based on the consumer payment share amount.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to:

receive, from the consumer device, share mode data indicating a selection of a preconfigured share mode;

determine the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts based on the share mode data; and

determine a consumer share amount for the consumer account based on the share mode data.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to:

programmatically determine a party size indicating a number of consumer accounts associated with the point-of-sale order based on location data received from consumer devices; and

determine the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts based at least in part on the party size and the transaction price.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to:

receive tip data from the consumer device indicating tip amount; and

determine a consumer payment share amount for the consumer account based at least in part on the tip amount.

11. A machine-implemented method of providing shared promotion redemptions, comprising:

associating, by processing circuitry of a networked apparatus, a consumer account and one or more other consumer accounts with a point-of-sale order;

determining, by the processing circuitry, a transaction price for the point-of-sale order;

receiving, by the processing circuitry and via a network, redemption data from a consumer device indicating redemption of a promotion associated with the consumer account, the redemption data further indicating whether to share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts;

determining, by the processing circuitry and based on the redemption data, whether to share the promotion with the one or more other consumers accounts;

determining, by the processing circuitry and based on promotion data defining the promotion stored in a promotion database, a redemption value of the promotion;

in response to determining to share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts, determining, by the processing circuitry, a payment share amount for each other consumer account of the one or more other consumer accounts by applying a portion of a redemption value of the promotion corresponding to the other consumer account to the payment share for the other consumer account; and

facilitating, by the processing circuitry, a transaction for each of the one or more other consumer accounts based on the payment share amount.

12. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

forming, by a communication beacon, a direct wireless connection with consumer devices when the consumer devices are within a direct wireless communicable range of the communication beacon;

providing, by the communication beacon, a beacon identifier to the consumer devices via the direct wireless connection;

receiving, by the processing circuitry, an indication that the consumer devices received the beacon identifier from the communication beacon, wherein the consumer devices include the consumer device associated with the consumer account and one or more other consumer devices associated with the one or more other consumer accounts;

associating, by the processing circuitry, the consumer account and the one or more other consumer accounts with the point-of-sale order based on receiving the indication that the consumer devices received the beacon identifier.

13. The method of claim 11 further comprising providing, by the processing circuitry, an indication of the payment share amount to the consumer device.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein determining the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts includes determining the payment share amount by applying a promotional value of the promotion.

15. The method of claim 11 further comprising, by the processing circuitry and in response to determining to share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts, determining a consumer payment share amount for the consumer account by applying an accepted value of the promotion.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising providing an indication of the consumer payment share amount to the consumer device via the network.

17. The method of claim 11 further comprising, by the processing circuitry and in response to determining to not share the promotion with the one or more other consumer accounts:

determining the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts without applying any portion of the redemption value of the promotion;

determining a consumer payment share amount for the consumer account by applying the redemption value of the promotion; and

facilitating a financial transaction for the consumer account based on the consumer payment share amount.

18. The method of claim 11 further comprising, by the processing circuitry:

receiving share mode data indicating a selection of a preconfigured share mode from the consumer device;

determining the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts based on the share mode data; and

determining a consumer share amount for the consumer account based on the share mode data.

19. The method of claim 11 further comprising, by the processing circuitry:

programmatically determining a party size indicating a number of consumer accounts associated with the point-of-sale order based on location data received from consumer devices; and

determining the payment share amount for the one or more other consumer accounts based at least in part on the party size.
