Abstract

A novel crystal of (R)-2-[[[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-2-pyridinyl]methyl]sulfinyl]-1H-benzimidazole or a salt thereof of the present invention is useful for an excellent antiulcer agent.

Claims (4)

1. A solid amorphous compound of (R)-2-[[[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-2-pyridinyl]methyl]sulfinyl]-1H-benzimidazole or salt thereof, having an optical purity of at least 98.3%.

2. The solid amorphous compound of claim 1 , which is (R)-2-[[[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-2-pyridinyl]methyl]sulfinyl]-1H-benzimidazole having an optical purity of at least 98.3%.

3. A crystalline compound of (R)-2-[[[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-2-pyridinyl]methyl]sulfinyl]-1H-benzimidazole or salt thereof, having an optical purity of at least 99.8%, produced by dissolving the solid amorphous compound or salt thereof of claim 1 in a solvent to form a solution and precipitating crystals from the solution.

4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the crystalline compound of claim 3 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
