Abstract

One or more embodiments of the present disclosure include a content management system that allows a user to easily activate a camera while viewing digital content. For example, a content management system can provide a graphical user interface that includes a scroll element that allows a user to navigate through digital content. In addition, a user can interact with the scroll element to activate a camera. For instance, a user can activate a camera by scrolling the scroll element to and/or beyond a particular position.

Claims (43)

1. A method comprising:

providing, by a computing device, a graphical user interface including a view area and a scroll element that allows a user to navigate digital content through the view area, wherein the scroll element comprises a plurality of positions on a timeline, wherein the plurality of positions include positions corresponding to dates associated with the digital content and a position corresponding to a camera function symbol for activating a camera function of the computing device;

detecting, by at least one processor, a first user interaction relative to the scroll element;

scrolling, in response to the first user interaction, the digital content through the view area of the graphical user interface to a first position of the digital content, wherein the first position of the digital content corresponds to a first position of the scroll element, wherein the first position of the scroll element corresponds to a first date associated with the digital content;

detecting, by the at least one processor, a second user interaction relative to the scroll element when the scroll element is at the first position;

scrolling, in response to the second user interaction, the scroll element to a second position of the scroll element corresponding to the camera function symbol; and

activating the camera function of the computing device in response to scrolling the scroll element to the second position, wherein activating the camera function of the computing device comprises displaying a camera viewfinder and at least one camera control element within the view area of the graphical user interface.

2. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first position is an end position of the scroll element that corresponds to an end portion of the digital content.

3. The method as recited in claim 2 , wherein displaying the camera viewfinder and at least one camera control element within the view area comprises opening a separate camera application on the computing device.

4. The method as recited in claim 3 , further comprising providing an indicator within the graphical user interface that indicates a position of the scroll element.

5. The method as recited in claim 4 , further comprising aligning the camera function symbol within the scroll element with the indicator when the scroll element is in the second position.

6. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the computing device is a mobile device comprising a touchscreen and wherein the scroll element is positioned at the bottom of the touchscreen of the mobile device below the view area.

7. The method as recited in claim 6 , wherein the second user interaction is a vertical swipe gesture.

8. The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising:

upon activating the camera function, detecting a third user interaction with respect to the view area of the graphical user interface; and

deactivating the camera function of the computing device upon detecting the third user interaction.

9. The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising providing markers positioned on the scroll element, wherein the markers correspond to at least one date of the dates associated with the digital content.

10. The method as recited in claim 9 , further comprising labeling one or more of the markers with the at least one date of the dates associated with the digital content.

11. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the second user interaction is a horizontal swipe gesture.

12. A method comprising:

detecting, by at least one processor of a computing device, one or more user interactions with respect to a scroll element that allows a user to navigate digital content through a view area of a graphical user interface, wherein the scroll element comprises a plurality of positions on a timeline, wherein the plurality of positions include positions corresponding to dates associated with the digital content and a position corresponding to a camera function symbol for activating a camera function of the computing device;

in response to one or more first user interactions with the scroll element, scrolling the digital content through the view area of the graphical user interface to an end position of the digital content, wherein the end position of the digital content corresponds to an end position of the scroll element, wherein the end position of the scroll element displays a date associated with the digital content; and

detecting, by the at least one processor, an additional user interaction when the scroll element is at the end position;

scrolling, in response to the additional user interaction, the scroll element to a second position of the scroll element displaying the camera function symbol; and

activating the camera function of the computing device in response to scrolling the scroll element to the second position, wherein activating the camera function of the computing device comprises displaying a camera viewfinder and at least one camera control element within the view area of the graphical user interface.

13. The method as recited in claim 12 , wherein displaying the camera viewfinder and at least one camera control element within the view area comprises opening a separate camera application on the computing device.

14. The method as recited in claim 13 , further comprising detecting a third user interaction with respect to the portion of the graphical user interface when the camera viewfinder is provided within the graphical user interface.

15. The method as recited in claim 14 , further comprising deactivating the camera function of the computing device upon detecting the third user interaction.

16. The method as recited in claim 12 , wherein the additional user interaction is a vertical swipe gesture.

17. The method as recited in claim 16 , wherein the scroll element comprises markers positioned on the scroll element and one or more of the markers are labeled with at least a portion of a date that corresponds to the digital content.

18. A mobile device comprising:

at least one processor;

at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the mobile device to:

provide a graphical user interface comprising a view area and a scroll element that allows a user to navigate digital content through the view area, wherein the scroll element comprises a plurality of positions on a timeline, wherein the plurality of positions include positions corresponding to dates associated with the digital content and a position corresponding to a camera function symbol for activating a camera function on the mobile device;

detect a first swipe gesture with respect to the scroll element;

in response to the first swipe gesture, scroll the digital content through the view area of the graphical user interface to an end position of the digital content, wherein the end position of the digital content corresponds to an end position of the scroll element, wherein the end position of the scroll element corresponds to a date associated with the digital content

detect a second swipe gesture with respect to the scroll element when the scroll element is at the end position;

scroll, in response to the second swipe gesture, the scroll element to a second position of the scroll element displaying the camera function symbol; and

activate the camera function on the mobile device in response to scrolling the scroll element to the second position, wherein activating the camera function on the mobile device comprises displaying a camera viewfinder and at least one camera control element within the view area of the graphical user interface.

19. The mobile device of claim 18 , wherein displaying the camera viewfinder and at least one camera control element within the view area comprises opening a separate camera application on the mobile device.

20. The mobile device of claim 19 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the mobile device to:

detect a third swipe gesture with respect to the scroll element; and

deactivate the camera function on the mobile device upon detecting the third swipe gesture with respect to the scroll element.
