Abstract

An example method includes calculating a tag data filter parameter for a plurality of tag events based on received tag blink data and tag location data, wherein the tag data filter parameter comprises a blink period, distance span, or velocity, calculating a participant location data adjustment factor based on the tag data filter parameter, and calculating multidimensional player location information per unit time based on the plurality of tag events and the participant location adjustment factor.

Claims (39)

1. A method of determining location information associated with a plurality of tag events, the method comprising:

receiving a plurality of tag events based on tag blink data generated by at least one tag and tag location data, wherein the tag events include a current tag event and at least one previous tag event;

determining, via a processor, whether at least one tag event is missing from the plurality of tag events by comparing a blink rate with amounts of time between ones of the plurality of tag events;

applying, via the processor, an adjustment factor to the plurality of tag events by:

when no tag events are missing from the plurality of tag events, equally weighting the current tag event and the at least one previous tag event; and

when at least one tag event is missing from the plurality of tag events, assigning a greater weight to the current tag than the at least one previous tag event;

calculating, via the processor, multidimensional player location information per unit time based on the weighted plurality of tag events; and

outputting the multidimensional player location information per unit time.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining tag blink data with compromised accuracy by analyzing a tag blink data quality indicator; and

dismissing the tag blink data with compromised accuracy from further analysis, wherein dismissed tag blink data is designated as missing tag events.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein determining tag blink data with compromised accuracy is based on at least one of data quality index, received signal strength index, real time location system error rate, or tag error codes.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein determining tag blink data with compromised accuracy further comprises comparing a tag blink data quality or integrity value to a predetermined value, wherein in an instance in which the data quality or integrity value satisfies the predetermined threshold the tag blink data accuracy is determined to be compromised.

5. An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and computer program code configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to at least:

receive a plurality of tag events based on tag blink data generated by at least one tag and tag location data, wherein the tag events include a current tag event and at least one previous tag event;

determine whether at least one tag event is missing from the plurality of tag events by comparing a blink rate with amounts of time between ones of the plurality of tag events;

apply an adjustment factor to the plurality of tag events by:

when no tag events are missing from the plurality of tag events, equally weighting the current tag event and the at least one previous tag event; and

when at least one tag event is missing from the plurality of tag events, assigning a greater weight to the current tag than the at least one previous tag event;

calculate multidimensional player location information per unit time based on the weighted plurality of tag events; and

output the multidimensional player location information per unit time.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to:

determine tag blink data with compromised accuracy by analyzing a tag blink data quality indicator; and

dismiss the tag blink data with compromised accuracy from further analysis, wherein dismissed tag blink data is designated as missing tag events.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 wherein determining tag blink data with compromised accuracy is based on at least one of data quality index, received signal strength index, real time location system error rate, or tag error codes.

8. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein determining tag blink data with compromised accuracy further comprises comparing a tag blink data quality or integrity value to a predetermined value, wherein in an instance in which the data quality or integrity value satisfies the predetermined threshold the tag blink data accuracy is determined to be compromised.

9. A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable program code portions stored therein, the computer-executable program code portions comprising program code instructions configured to:

receive a plurality of tag events based on tag blink data generated by at least one tag and tag location data, wherein the tag events include a current tag event and at least one previous tag event;

determine whether at last one tag event is missing from the plurality of tag events by comparing a blink rate with amounts of time between ones of the plurality of tag events;

apply an adjustment factor to the plurality of tag events by:

when no tag events are missing from the plurality of tag events, equally weighting the current tag event and the at least one previous tag event; and

when at least one tag event is missing from the plurality of tag events, assigning a greater weight to the current tag than the at least one previous tag event;

calculate multidimensional player location information per unit time based on the weighted plurality of tag events; and

output the multidimensional player location information per unit time, wherein dismissed tag blink data is designated as missing tag events.

10. The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein the computer-executable program code portions further comprise program code instructions configured to:

determine tag blink data with compromised accuracy by analyzing a tag blink data quality indicator; and

dismiss the tag blink data with compromised accuracy from further analysis.

11. The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein tag blink data with compromised accuracy is based on at least one of data quality index, received signal strength index, real time location system error rate, or tag error codes.

12. The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein determining tag blink data with compromised accuracy further comprises comparing a tag blink data quality or integrity value to a predetermined value, wherein in an instance in which the data quality or integrity value satisfies the predetermined threshold the tag blink data accuracy is determined to be compromised.
