METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR BROWSING USING ALTERNATIVE LINKBASES
Systems and methods for navigating hypermedia using multiple coordinated input/output device sets. Disclosed systems and methods allow a user and/or an author to control what resources are presented on which device sets (whether they are integrated or not), and provide for coordinating browsing activities to enable such a user interface to be employed across multiple independent systems. Disclosed systems and methods also support new and enriched aspects and applications of hypermedia browsing and related business activities.

112 . A method of browsing provision, comprising:
presenting a continuous media resource to a user;
determining one or more parameters relating to presentation of said resource; and
dispatching an internet protocol request to a server, wherein said request includes at least one of said parameters.

115 . The method of claim 112 , further comprising:
receiving a resource in response to said dispatching, wherein said resource is chosen without reference to said parameters.
116 . The method of claim 112 , further comprising:
receiving a resource in response to said dispatching, wherein said resource is chosen with reference to one or more of said parameters.
117 . The method of claim 112 , wherein said parameters include at least one of time zone, media distribution service identifier, television channel identifier, program identifier, base program identifier, time-position, image region identifier, demographic data, user data, and ending resource identifier.
118 . The method of claim 112 , wherein said dispatching is performed by a remote portal.
119 . The method of claim 112 , wherein said dispatching is performed by said user's personal computer.
120 - 138 . (canceled)
139 . A method of providing resources, comprising:
receiving an internet protocol request, wherein said request includes one or more parameters relating to a dynamic context associated with a browsing session provided to a user;
choosing a resource with reference to one or more of said parameters; and
dispatching the chosen resource.
140 - 143 . (canceled)
144 . The method of claim 139 , wherein said receiving, said choosing, and said dispatching are performed by a personal computer associated with said user.
145 . The method of claim 139 , wherein said receiving, said choosing, and said dispatching are performed by a server remote from said user.
146 . The method of claim 139 , wherein said dynamic context is with regard to context of a system that is independent from a system identified as dispatching said internet protocol request.
147 - 159 . (canceled)
160 . A method of searching, comprising:
enabling a user to enter a query; and
returning a list of resources in response to the query,
wherein the list is determined with reference to an identity of a currently presented resource.
161 . The method of claim 160 , wherein the list is determined with reference to said identity of said currently presented resource based on a predefined correspondence of resource identities.
162 . The method of claim 160 , wherein determination of said list employs said identity of said currently presented resource as a search term that is logically anded with the user-entered query.
163 . The method of claim 160 , wherein said currently presented resource need not be explicitly referenced by the user.
164 . The method of claim 160 , wherein said currently presented resource is a continuous media resource that is viewed on a system that is independent of a system used to enter said query.
