Abstract

A chat-based communication capability is presented. The chat-based communication capability may support encapsulation of a user interface within a chat session. The encapsulation of a user interface within a chat session may be provided by dynamically creating the user interface within the chat session. The creation of a user interface within a chat session may be supported by determining that the user interface is to be created within the chat session and propagating, toward a device supporting the chat session, information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session. The creation of a user interface within a chat session may be supported by receiving information configured for use by a device to create the user interface within the chat session and initiating creation of the user interface within the chat session based on the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session.

Claims (49)

1 . An apparatus, comprising:

a processor and a memory communicatively connected to the processor, the processor configured to:

determine, based on detection of a trigger condition, that a user interface is to be created within a chat session supported by a chat application of a device; and

propagate, toward the device, information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the trigger condition comprises at least one of a chat message being received from the device or an event independent of the chat session.

3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session comprises at least one of:

executable code for execution by the device to create the user interface within the chat session; or

data configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session comprises:

information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within a chat window of the chat session.

5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session comprises:

information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within a chat message of the chat session.

6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session comprises:

data defining a bounding region within which the user interface is to be created; and

data defining, within the bounding region, a bounding sub-region within which a user interface component of the user interface is to be created.

7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to propagate the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session via one or more chat messages propagated within the chat session.

8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein processor is configured to propagate the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session via one or more non-chat messages propagated outside of the chat session.

9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to:

receive, from the device via the chat session, a chat message generated based on an interaction with the user interface.

10 . A method, comprising:

using a processor and a memory for:

determining, based on detection of a trigger condition, that a user interface is to be created within a chat session supported by a chat application of a device; and

propagating, toward the device, information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session.

11 . An apparatus, comprising:

a processor and a memory communicatively connected to the processor, the processor configured to:

receive, at a device comprising a chat application configured to support a chat session, information configured for use by the device to create a user interface within the chat session; and

initiate creation of the user interface within the chat session based on the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session.

12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session comprises at least one of:

executable code for execution by the device to create the user interface within the chat session; or

data configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session.

13 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session comprises at least one of:

information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within a chat window of the chat session; or

information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within a chat message of the chat session.

14 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session comprises:

data defining a bounding region within which the user interface is to be created; and

data defining, within the bounding region, a bounding sub-region within which a user interface component of the user interface is to be created.

15 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to receive the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session via one or more chat messages propagated within the chat session.

16 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to receive the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session via one or more non-chat messages propagated outside of the chat session.

17 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein, to initiate creation of the user interface within the chat session, the processor is configured to perform at least one of:

initiate creation of the user interface within a chat window of the chat session; or

initiate creation of the user interface within a chat message of the chat session.

18 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to:

detect an interaction via the user interface; and

propagate, from the device toward a second device, an indication of the interaction via the user interface.

19 . The apparatus of claim 18 , wherein the second device comprises an end user device or a network device.

20 . A method, comprising:

using a processor and a memory for:

receiving, at a device comprising a chat application configured to support a chat session, information configured for use by the device to create a user interface within the chat session; and

initiating creation of the user interface within the chat session based on the information configured for use by the device to create the user interface within the chat session.
