Abstract

Techniques to automatically syndicate content over a network are described. An apparatus may comprise a client computer having a processing system with a processor and computer-readable medium. The computer readable medium may store program instructions for a syndication manager component communicatively coupled to a content producing component arranged to be executed by the processor. The syndication manager component may be operative to receive syndication content from the content producing component, and provide a syndication dialog through the content producing component to syndicate the syndication content using a content delivery platform. The syndication manager component may also syndicate the syndication content to form a syndication resource accessible from the content delivery platform over a network using a syndication referent. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Claims (37)

1. A device comprising:

a processor; and

a memory operatively coupled to the processor, the memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor perform a method, the method comprising:

generating syndication content by a productivity application program, the syndication content comprising an electronic file created by the productivity application program;

presenting, by the productivity application program, an option to syndicate the syndication content;

receiving a control directive to syndicate the syndication content; and

syndicating the syndication content from the productivity application program to form a syndication resource accessible from a publication platform over a network using a syndication referent representing a link to the syndication resource.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the productivity application program is one of the group consisting of: a word-processing application program, a spreadsheet application program, a presentation-based application program, a note-taking application program, an e-mail application program, and a drawing application program.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises receiving control parameters wherein the control parameters are based on input from a content producer utilizing the productivity application program.

4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the control parameters include at least one of the group consisting of: a syndication portion identifier, an interactivity parameter, a display parameter, and an effect parameter.

5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises providing a syndication dialog through the productivity application program to syndicate the syndication content.

6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises modifying the syndication content, the modifying operations comprising at least one of republishing, updating, and removing the syndication content.

7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the publication platform is one of a personal page and a community page.

8. A system comprising:

a processor; and

a memory coupled to the processor, the memory comprising computer-program instructions executable by the processor, the computer-program instructions comprising a content producing component and a syndication component;

the content producing component comprising a productivity application program, wherein the content producing component is configured to:

generate syndication content, the syndication content comprising an electronic file created by the productivity application program;

present an option to syndicate the syndication content; and

receive a control directive to syndicate the syndication content; and

wherein the syndication component is configured to syndicate the syndication content from the content producing component to form a syndication resource accessible from a publication platform over a network using a syndication referent representing a link to the syndication resource.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the productivity application program is one of the group consisting of: a word-processing application program, a spreadsheet application program, a presentation-based application program, a note-taking application program, an e-mail application program, and a drawing application program.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein content producing component is further configured to receive control parameters wherein the control parameters are based on input from a content producer utilizing the productivity application program.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the control parameters include at least one of the group consisting of: a syndication portion identifier, an interactivity parameter, a display parameter, and an effect parameter.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the content producing component is further configured to provide a syndication dialog through the productivity application program to syndicate the syndication content.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the publication platform is one of a personal page or a community page.

14. A computer-implemented method, the method comprising:

generating syndication content by a productivity application program on a computer device, the syndication content comprising an electronic file created by the productivity application program;

presenting, on a display of the computer device, by the productivity application program, an option to syndicate the syndication content;

receiving a control directive to syndicate the syndication content; and

syndicating the syndication content from the productivity application program to form a syndication resource accessible from a publication platform over a network using a syndication referent representing a link to the syndication resource.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the productivity application program is one of the group consisting of: a word-processing application program, a spreadsheet application program, a presentation-based application program, a note-taking application program, an e-mail application program, and a drawing application program.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , further comprising receiving control parameters wherein the control parameters are based on input from a content producer utilizing the productivity application program.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , wherein the control parameters include at least one of the group consisting of: a syndication portion identifier, an interactivity parameter, a display parameter, and an effect parameter.

18. The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , further comprising providing a syndication dialog through the productivity application program to syndicate the syndication content.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , further comprising modifying the syndication content, the modifying operations comprising at least one of republishing, updating, and removing the syndication content.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the publication platform is one of a personal page and a community page.
