Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for suppressed navigation instructions. In one implementation, a first set of navigational operations between an origin and a destination can be received, an alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination can be received, the alternative set of navigational operations can be compared with the first set of navigational operations to identify one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations, and one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations can be provided.

Claims (69)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving a first set of navigational operations between an origin and a destination;

receiving an alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination;

comparing, by a processing device, the alternative set of navigational operations with the first set of navigational operations to identify one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations; and

providing one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving an alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination comprises receiving an alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination that is likely to be more efficient than the first set of navigational operations.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination is likely to be more efficient at a certain point in time than the first set of navigational operations.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination is likely to be at least one of more time efficient, more distance efficient, more energy efficient, more safe, more efficient with respect to one or more usage fees, more attractive, be associated with more points of interest, or more familiar.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving an first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination comprises receiving a first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination that have been performed by a user associated with the alternative set of navigational operations.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving an first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination comprises receiving a first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination that have been performed by one or more users.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving a first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination comprises receiving a first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination that have been performed with at least a defined frequency by a user associated with the alternative set of navigational operations.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving a first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination comprises receiving a first set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination that have been performed with at least a defined frequency by one or more users.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more of the one or more operations comprises providing the one or more of the one or more operations via one or more interfaces.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the one or more interfaces comprise at least one of: a display interface, an audio interface, an illumination interface, or a haptic interface.

11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein providing the one or more of the one or more operations via one or more interfaces comprises: determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein providing the one or more of the one or more operations via one or more interfaces further comprises selecting, based on the degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with, at least one of the one or more interfaces at which to provide the one or more of the one or more operations.

13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with.

The method of claim 13 , wherein providing one or more one or more operations comprises providing one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations based on the degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with comprises determining based on at least one of (a) a geographic location or (b) a speed, a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with.

16 . The method of claim 13 , wherein determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with comprises comparing the one or more of the one or more operations with a geographic location associated with a device to determine the degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with.

The method of claim 16 , wherein determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with comprises determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with further based on a device state of the device.

The method of claim 13 , wherein determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with comprises determining that the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively less likely to be complied with based on one or more environmental conditions perceptible to a device.

The method of claim 13 , wherein determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with comprises determining, based on a device state of a device, the degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with.

The method of claim 19 , wherein the device state comprises at least one of (a) a volume state of the device, (b) a volume state of an application executing on the device, (c) a display state of the device, (d) a display state of an application executing on the device, (e) a haptic state of the device, or (f) a haptic state of an application executing on the device.

21 . The method of claim 13 , wherein determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with comprises determining, based on a device state of one or more first devices, the degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with, and wherein providing the one or more operations comprises providing, in relation to one or more second devices, one or more notifications corresponding to the one or more operations.

22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein at least one of: (a) the one or more first devices comprises at least one of the one or more second devices or (b) the one or more second devices comprises at least one of the one or more first devices.

The method of claim 21 , wherein the device state comprises at least one of (a) a volume state of at least one of the one or more second devices, (b) a volume state of an application executing on at least one of the one or more second devices, (c) a display state of at least one of the one or more second devices, (d) a display state of an application executing on at least one of the one or more second devices, (e) a haptic state of at least one of the one or more second devices, or (f) a haptic state of an application executing on at least one of the one or more second devices.

24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein at least one of: (a) the one or more first devices comprises at least one of the one or more second devices or (b) the one or more second devices comprises at least one of the one or more first devices.

25 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more of the one or more operations comprises providing the one or more of the one or more operations in a manner that is relatively more prominent than one or more notifications provided with respect to the one or more other operations.

26 . The method of claim 24 , wherein providing the one or more of the one or more operations comprises:

determining a degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with; and

providing, based on the degree to which the one or more of the one or more operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with, the one or more of the one or more operations in a manner that is relatively more prominent than one or more other operations provided between the origin and the destination.

27 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more of the one or more operations comprises providing the one or more of the one or more operations in a manner that is at least one of (a) relatively louder, (b) relatively faster, (c) relatively brighter, (d) relatively stronger; (e) relatively longer, (f) relatively more redundant, (g) relatively more dynamic, (h) relatively bolder, or (i) relatively larger, than one or more prior operations.

28 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising precluding a providing of the first set of navigational operations.

29 . The method of claim 1 , wherein instead of providing one or more operations, not providing one or more of the one or more operations included in the either set of operations when the alternative set of navigational operations do not deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

30 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising not providing any of the one or more operations included in the either set of operations when the alternative set of navigational operations do not deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

31 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the origin comprises a current location.

32 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the destination comprises an intermediate destination.

33 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more operations comprises providing information pertaining to a determination that the alternative set of navigational operations is likely to be more efficient than the first set of navigational operations.

34 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more operations comprises providing information pertaining to a determination that the alternative set of navigational operations is likely to be less habitual to a user than the first set of navigational operations.

35 . The method of claim 1 wherein providing the one or more operations comprises providing information pertaining to a determination that, based on (a) the first set of navigational operations and (b) the alternative set of navigational operations, that the alternative set of navigational operations is relatively unlikely to be complied with.

36 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more operations comprises:

generating, based on (a) the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations and (b) a corresponding one or more operations from at the first set of navigational operations from which the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations deviate, one or more navigation instructions; and

providing the one or more navigation instructions in relation to one or more locations associated with the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

37 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the one or more navigation instructions comprise (a) a positive instruction that instructs a user to perform the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations and (b) a negative instruction that instructs a user not to perform the one or more operations from the first set of navigational operations from which the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations deviate.

38 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more operations comprises preventing the providing of operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that do not deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

39 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more operations comprises providing one or more corrective operations based on a determination that the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations are not likely being complied with.

40 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the one or more operations comprises emphasizing the one or more operations based on a device state of a device.

41 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first set of navigational operations comprises a set of navigational operations previously traveled by a user associated with a device.

42 . The method of claim 41 , wherein providing one or more of the one or more operations comprises providing, in relation to the device, one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

43 . A system comprising

a memory; and

a processing device, coupled to the memory, to:

identify a first set of navigational operations between an origin and a destination;

determine an alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination that is likely to be more efficient at a certain point in time than the first set of navigational operations;

compare the alternative set of navigational operations with the first set of navigational operations to identify one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations; and

provide one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

44 . The system of claim 43 , wherein to provide the one or more operations is to:

generate, based on (a) the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations and (b) a corresponding one or more operations from at the first set of navigational operations from which the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations deviate, one or more navigation instructions; and

provide the one or more navigation instructions in relation to one or more locations associated with the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

The system of claim 44 , wherein the one or more navigation instructions comprise (a) a positive instruction that instructs a user to perform the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations and (b) a negative instruction that instructs a user not to perform the one or more operations from at the first set of navigational operations from which the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations deviate.

46 . The system of claim 44 , wherein the first set of navigational operations comprises a set of navigational operations previously traveled by a user associated with a device.

47 . The system of claim 46 , wherein to provide one or more of the one or more operations is to provide, in relation to the device, one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations.

48 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to:

identify a first set of navigational operations between an origin and a destination;

determine an alternative set of navigational operations between the origin and the destination that is likely to be more efficient at a certain point in time than the first set of navigational operations;

compare, by a processing device, the alternative set of navigational operations with the first set of navigational operations to identify one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations;

generate, based on (a) the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations and (b) a corresponding one or more operations from at the first set of navigational operations from which the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations deviate, one or more navigation instructions, the one or more navigation instructions comprising (a) a positive instruction that instructs a user to perform the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations and (b) a negative instruction that instructs a user not to perform the one or more operations from at the first set of navigational operations from which the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations deviate; and

provide the one or more navigation instructions in relation to one or more locations associated with the one or more of the one or more operations included in the alternative set of navigational operations that deviate from the first set of navigational operations.
