Abstract

An aspect includes a method for providing real time data feeds to a user of a mobile device. A signal that includes an identification code is received by a mobile device from a short-range wireless communication transmitter. The signal is processed on the mobile device. The processing includes determining whether information associated with the signal is stored on the mobile device, and identifying a retrieval location of the information based on the determining and on the signal. The processing the signal is performed exclusively by a software application located on the mobile device and independently of any networks. Based on the processing, information from the retrieval location is retrieved using the mobile device. A real time data feed associated with the identification code is located. The information is displayed on the mobile device and the real time data feed is streamed on the mobile device.

Claims (47)

1. A method for providing real time data feeds to a user of a mobile device, the method comprising:

receiving a signal from a geographic location that is positioned within a space defined by an effective reception range of a short-range wireless communication transmitter, wherein the signal is received from the short-range wireless communication transmitter, the signal includes an identification code, and the receiving is by a mobile device of a user located within the space;

processing the signal on the mobile device, the processing including:

determining whether information associated with the signal is stored on the mobile device; and

identifying a retrieval location of the information based on the determining and on the signal, wherein the processing the signal is performed exclusively by a software application located on the mobile device and independently of any networks;

based on the processing, retrieving the information from the retrieval location using the mobile device;

locating a real time data feed associated with the identification code; and

displaying the information and streaming the real time data feed on the mobile device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the displaying and the streaming are independent of each other.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

integrating the real time data feed and the information, wherein the displaying and streaming are based on the integrating.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identification code is further associated with a venue and the short-range wireless communication transmitter is located in the venue.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the streaming continues while the mobile device is located in the venue.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the real time data feed includes data related to an event at the venue.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the real time data feed includes one or more of sporting game data, investment data, weather data, and emergency data.

8. A computer program product comprising a non-transitory storage medium readable by a processing circuit of a processor and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit to perform a method comprising:

receiving a signal from a geographic location that is positioned within a space defined by an effective reception range of a short-range wireless communication transmitter, wherein the signal is received from the short-range wireless communication transmitter, the signal includes an identification code, and the receiving is by a mobile device of a user located within the space;

processing the signal on the mobile device, the processing including:

determining whether information associated with the signal is stored on the mobile device; and

identifying a retrieval location of the information based on the determining and on the signal, wherein the processing the signal is performed exclusively by a software application located on the mobile device and independently of any networks;

based on the processing, retrieving the information from the retrieval location using the mobile device;

locating a real time data feed associated with the identification code; and

displaying the information and streaming the real time data feed on the mobile device.

9. The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the displaying and the streaming are independent of each other.

10. The computer program product of claim 8 , further comprising:

integrating the real time data feed and the information, wherein the displaying and streaming are based on the integrating.

11. The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the identification code is further associated with a venue and the short-range wireless communication transmitter is located in the venue.

12. The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein the streaming continues while the mobile device is located in the venue.

13. The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein the real time data feed includes data related to an event at the venue.

14. The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the real time data feed includes one or more of sporting game data, investment data, weather data, and emergency data.

15. A mobile device comprising:

a processing device; and

a memory device in communication with the processing device, the memory device storing instructions that when executed by the processing device result in:

receiving a signal from a geographic location that is positioned within a space defined by an effective reception range of a short-range wireless communication transmitter, wherein the signal is received from the short-range wireless communication transmitter, the signal includes an identification code, and the receiving is by the mobile device of a user located within the space;

processing the signal on the mobile device, the processing including:

determining whether information associated with the signal is stored on the mobile device; and

identifying a retrieval location of the information based on the determining and on the signal, wherein the processing the signal is performed exclusively by a software application located on the mobile device and independently of any networks;

based on the processing, retrieving the information from the retrieval location using the mobile device;

locating a real time data feed associated with the identification code; and

displaying the information and streaming the real time data feed on the mobile device.

16. The mobile device of claim 15 , wherein the displaying and the streaming are independent of each other.

17. The mobile device of claim 15 , further comprising:

integrating the real time data feed and the information, wherein the displaying and streaming are based on the integrating.

18. The mobile device of claim 15 , wherein the identification code is further associated with a venue and the short-range wireless communication transmitter is located in the venue.

19. The mobile device of claim 18 , wherein the streaming continues while the mobile device is located in the venue.

20. The mobile device of claim 18 , wherein the real time data feed includes data related to an event at the venue.

21. The mobile device of claim 15 , wherein the real time data feed includes one or more of sporting game data, investment data, weather data, and emergency data.
