Cleansing Compositions
The present invention relates to cleansing compositions including: (a) from about 3% to about 20% by weight based on the total weight of the composition amphoteric surfactant; and (b) an alkyl glucoside surfactant, wherein a ratio of alkyl glucoside surfactant to amphoteric surfactant is at least 1 to 1, the composition is free of ethoxylated surfactants, and the composition has a viscosity of at least 1000 centipoise.
1 . A cleansing composition comprising:
(a) from about 3% to about 20% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of an amphoteric surfactant;
(b) an alkyl glucoside surfactant, wherein the ratio of alkyl glucoside surfactant to amphoteric surfactant is at least 1 to 1; and
(c) an anionic surfactant, wherein said anionic surfactant is a sulfate;
wherein the composition is free of ethoxylated surfactants.
2 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein the composition has a viscosity of at least 1000 centipoise when measured using a Brookfield LVF instrument with a number 2 spindle at 6 RPM at 25° C.
3 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein the amphoteric surfactant is a betaine.
4 . The composition according to claim 3 wherein the betaine is selected from the group consisting of cetyl dimethyl betaine, cocoamidopropyl betaine, and oleyl betaine.
5 . The composition according to claim 4 wherein the betaine is cocoamidopropyl betaine.

7 . The composition according to claim 6 wherein the alkyl glucoside surfactant is coco glycoside.
8 . The composition according to claim 6 wherein the alkyl glucoside surfactant is decyl glycoside.
9 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein the amount of alkyl glucoside surfactant ranges from about 3% to about 20% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.
10 . The composition according to claim 9 wherein the amount of alkyl glucoside surfactant ranges from about 4% to about 18% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.
11 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein the amount of amphoteric surfactant ranges from about 4% to about 18% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.
12 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition is selected from the group consisting of shampoos, 2 in 1 shampoo-conditioners, hair and body washes, washes, baths, gels, lotions, creams or combinations of two or more thereof.
13 . A method of cleansing the body comprising applying a composition according to claim 12 to the body.
14 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein the composition has a viscosity of at least 2000 centipoise when measured using a Brookfield LVF instrument with a number 2 spindle at 6 RPM at 25° C.
15 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein the amphoteric surfactant is cocoamidopropylbetaine and the alkyl glucoside surfactant is decyl glucoside.
16 . The composition according to claim 1 wherein the amphoteric surfactant is cocoamidopropylbetaine and the alkyl glucoside surfactant is coco glucoside
