METHOD OF ENABLING A USER TO ACCESS A WEBSITE USING OVERLAY AUTHENTICATION
A method of enabling a user to access a website using overlay authentication. The method comprises initiating a login to a website by a user, the website providing a login page having a front end agent. The front end agent enables the user to logon to an authentication server using certificate based credentials. The authentication server communicates to a back-end agent to provide a user with a temporary website credential. The temporary website provides a credential to the front-end agent to facilitate the login to the website.
1 . A method of enabling a user to natively login to a website using overlay provisioning in a system having a server and a proxy, the server hosting the website, the proxy having a back-end agent operative to communicate with the server, the method comprising:
the user initiating a login to the website;
the website providing a login page having a front-end agent;
the front-end agent enabling the user to be authenticated using certificate based credentials;
the front-end agent operative to connect to the back-end agent using the certificate based credentials and to provide a certificate;
the back-end agent using information in the certificate to automatically provision a user with a website account at the server; and
the back-end agent providing the website account and login parameters to the front-end agent to facilitate the login to the website for the user.
2 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a plurality of websites are accessed, each website having a respective website credential.
3 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the website credential comprises an identifier and/or password.
4 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the front-end agent triggers the generation of the website credential.
5 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the front-end agent transmits the website credential to the website.
6 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the certificate based credential is stored separate.
7 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the website credential is generated remote from the website.
8 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the authentication of the certificate based credential is separate.
9 . A provisioning system configured to enable a user to natively login to a website using overlay provisioning, the system comprising:
a server hosting the website;
the website providing to a client computer a login page having a front-end agent,
the front-end agent operative to connect to a back-end agent using certificate-based credentials and to provide a certificate,
the back-end agent operative to communicate with the server and used to provision the user with a website credential at the server,
wherein the website account and login parameters from the back-end agent are useable by the login page to login to the website.
10 . The system as claimed in claim 9 , further comprising:
communication section configured to communicate to the website, the website credential, and
transmission section configured to transmit the website credential to the front-end agent for use in enabling access to the website.
11 . The system as claimed in claim 9 , useable to access at least one of a content management system, a messaging system, a file management system, a systems management system and/or a collaboration system.
