E-READING DEVICE PAGE CONTINUITY BOOKMARK INDICIUM AND INVOCATION
A method and system for page continuity bookmark indicium and invocation on an e-reading device is disclosed. The system utilizes a camera that tracks an eye movement of a user of the e-reading device. In addition a gaze to page portion correlation logic correlates a gaze of the user with a portion of a page presented on the e-reading device. An operation implementation responsive to gaze logic implements a marking of the portion of the page presented on the e-reading device in response to the gaze being removed from the page for a pre-defined time period.
1 . A method for automatically marking a portion of a page of content on an e-reading device for page continuity, the method comprising:
tracking an eye movement of a user of an e-reading device on the page of content on the e-reading device;
determining, via the eye movement tracking, that the user has looked away from the page being read for a pre-defined time period; and
automatically marking a portion of the page presented on the e-reading device, relative to a last eye movement tracking location on the page of content on the e-reading device.
2 . The method as recited by claim 1 , further comprising:
providing an icon on the page of content indicating that the tracking of the eye movement is enabled.
3 . The method as recited by claim 1 , wherein the pre-defined time period that the user has looked away from the page is adjustable.
4 . The method as recited by claim 1 , further comprising:
tracking the eye movement of the user at a word-by-word granularity.
5 . The method as recited by claim 1 , further comprising:
tracking the eye movement of the user at a line-by-line granularity.
6 . The method as recited by claim 1 , wherein the automatically marking comprises:
highlighting a next-segment-of-text to be read on the page presented on the e-reading device, after the last eye movement tracking location on the page of content.
7 . The method as recited by claim 1 , further comprising:
automatically unmarking the portion of the page presented on the e-reading device, when the eye movement tracking determines the marked portion of the page has been viewed.
8 . A system for page continuity bookmark indicium and invocation on an e-reading device, the system comprising:
a camera that tracks an eye movement of a user of the e-reading device;
a gaze to page portion correlation logic correlates a gaze of the user with a portion of a page of content presented on the e-reading device; and
an operation implementation responsive to gaze logic implements a marking of the portion of the page of content presented on the e-reading device in response to the gaze being removed from the page of content for a pre-defined time period.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the marking is a highlighting of a next-segment-of-text to be read on the page of content.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the marking is a bolding of a next-segment-of-text to be read on the page of content.
11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the marking is an illuminating of a next-segment-of-text to be read on the page of content.
12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the marking of the portion of the page of content remains on the page even if the e-reading device enters a sleep mode.
13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the operation implementation responsive to gaze logic removes the marking of the portion of the page presented on the e-reading device in response to the gaze being returned to the portion of the page.
14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the camera tracks the eye movement of the user of the e-reading device at a line-by-line granularity.
15 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the camera tracks the eye movement of the user of the e-reading device at a word-by-word granularity.
16 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a hardware processor of a computing device, cause the hardware processor to perform a method for automatically marking a portion of a page of content on an e-reading device for page continuity, the method comprising:
tracking an eye movement of a user of an e-reading device on the page of content on the e-reading device;
determining, via the eye movement tracking, that the user has looked away from the page being read for a pre-defined time period; and
automatically marking a portion of the page presented on the e-reading device, after a last eye movement tracking location on the page of content on the e-reading device.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium as recited by claim 16 , wherein the automatically marking comprises:
highlighting a next-segment-of-text to be read on the page presented on the e-reading device, after the last eye movement tracking location on the page of content.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium as recited by claim 16 , further comprising:
automatically unmarking the portion of the page presented on the e-reading device, when the eye movement tracking determines the marked portion of the page has been viewed.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium as recited by claim 16 , further comprising:
tracking the eye movement of the user at a line-by-line granularity.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium as recited by claim 16 , further comprising:
tracking the eye movement of the user at a word-by-word granularity.
