15. The method of hanging a cable from a carrier wire which comprises the steps of:

attaching a spiral wound gripper shaped end on an arm of a U-shaped cable hanger to a carrier wire by slipping the carrier wire between adjacent spiral sections and turning the hanger so that the spiral wound gripper section surrounds and captively holds onto the carrier wire while being free to slide along the carrier wire;

loading a cable into the U-shaped cable hanger so that the cable rests on the bottom of cable carrier section; and

clamping the spiral wound gripper end into non-sliding abutment with the carrier wire by compressing a second arm of the cable hanger that is attached to the spiral wound gripper shaped end and engaging it with the carrier wire so that the inside diameter of the spiral wound gripper shaped end is firmly abutted against the carrier wire.
