Abstract

The power consumption of a data sampling unit that selects a phase of a clock signal appropriate for sampling payload data is reduced at an input interface. A semiconductor integrated circuit includes an input interface and internal core circuits. The input interface includes a hysteresis circuit and a data sampling unit. The hysteresis circuit detects an input signal between first and second input thresholds as a sleep command. The data sampling unit selects an appropriate phase of a sampling clock signal in accordance with a synchronizing signal and samples payload data. When a sleep command is detected, a sleep signal is also supplied to the internal core circuits and the data sampling unit and they are controlled into a low-power consumption state.

Claims (22)

1. A radio frequency integrated circuit comprising:

an input circuit into which a digital input data signal from a base band integrated circuit is inputted and which outputs a digital output signal based on the digital input data signal;

an output circuit into which the digital output signal is inputted and which outputs a serial data signal based on the digital output signal;

a sleep mode detection circuit into which the digital output signal is inputted;

a data sampling unit into which the serial data signal and sampling payload data included in the serial data signal are inputted, and which outputs a sampled digital data signal;

a D-A converter for transmission which is configured to convert the sampled digital data signal into an analog transmission baseband signal; and

an up conversion transmission circuit configured to convert the analog transmission baseband signal into an RF transmission signal,

wherein the input circuit has a first input threshold voltage and a second input threshold voltage to detect a sleep command when the digital input data signal has a voltage range between the first and second threshold voltages,

wherein the sleep mode detection circuit outputs a sleep command signal when the sleep command is detected, and

wherein the data sampling unit, D-A converter for transmission, and up conversion transmission circuit are controlled to enter a sleep mode when the sleep command signal is inputted.

2. The radio frequency integrated circuit according to claim 1 ,

wherein the data sampling unit includes a clock selection section, a sleep mode determination circuit, and a payload detection section,

wherein the serial data signal and a plurality of clock signals are inputted into the clock selection section,

wherein the clock selection section converts the serial data signal into a parallel data signal, and

wherein the sleep command signal is inputted into the sleep mode determination circuit.

3. The radio frequency integrated circuit according to claim 2 ,

wherein the clock selection section selects one of the plurality of clock signals to sample payload data included in the digital input data signal.

4. The radio frequency integrated circuit according to claim 3 ,

wherein the clock selection section includes a plurality of data sampling circuits and a clock selection data determination circuit,

wherein the clock selection data determination circuit outputs a clock signal selection signal in response to output signals of the plurality of data sampling circuits, and

wherein the clock signal selection signal selects said one of the plurality of clock signals to sample the payload data.

5. The radio frequency integrated circuit according to claim 3 , wherein the payload data are stored in a data memory section.
