DIABETES-RELATED BIOMARKERS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
The invention describes biomarkers which can be used to predict the likelihood that an individual will develop Diabetes. The biomarkers can also be used to screen large groups in order to identify individuals at risk of developing Diabetes.

109 . A method of evaluating risk for developing a diabetic condition comprising:
obtaining biomarker measurement data, wherein the biomarker measurement data is from at least one biological sample of an individual and the biomarkers comprise GLUCOSE, TRIG, and ADIPOQ; and
evaluating risk for developing a diabetic condition based on an output from a model, wherein the model is executed based on the obtained biomarker measurement data.
110 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the model comprises: comparing the biomarker measurement data to reference values.
111 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the output of the model comprises:
calculating an index value, wherein the model was trained using data from a longitudinal study of a selected population of individuals, and the training data comprises levels of biomarkers and an end point in the selected population of individuals, and the end point is development of a diabetic condition.
112 . The method of claim 111 , wherein the longitudinal study is the Framingham study or modifications of the Framingham study.
113 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the model comprises a formula of:

114 . The method of claim 112 , wherein the model comprises the formula
Risk score=Exp( D )/(1+exp( D )).
115 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the biomarker measurement data is normalized.
116 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the output from the model comprises a prediction of the probability, odds, or likelihood that the individual will develop a diabetic condition.
117 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the diabetic condition is diabetes.
118 . The method of claim 109 , wherein the biomarker measurement data corresponding to ADIPOQ was obtained by detecting the ADIPOQ protein.
119 . A method of evaluating risk for developing a diabetic condition comprising:
obtaining biomarker measurement data, wherein the biomarker measurement data is from measurements of biomarkers in at least one biological sample of an individual, wherein the biomarkers comprise GLUCOSE, TRIG, and ADIPOQ;
generating a subject biomarker profile; and
evaluating risk for developing a diabetic condition by comparing the subject biomarker profile to a reference biomarker profile.
120 . The method of claim 119 , further including providing the result of the comparison.
