a release component supported by the handle member and extending relative to the handle member along the delivery component in the distal direction; and

an actuator supported by the handle member and operably coupled to the delivery component and the release component, the actuator configured to actuate at least one of the delivery component and the release component from a first state where the toggle is fixed between the distal end of the delivery component and the release component, into a second state where the toggle is released from between the distal end of the delivery component and the release component.

2. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the release component includes a release component body, the release component body defining a rear end and a front end spaced from the rear end in the distal direction, the front end defining an inner surface, wherein in the first state a portion of the toggle is in contact with A) the inner surface of the release component, and B) the distal end of the delivery component.

3. The instrument of claim 2 , wherein the actuator is supported by the handle member so that an entirety of the actuator is spaced apart from the front end of the release component in a proximal direction that is opposite to the distal direction.

4. The instrument of claim 3 , wherein actuation of the actuator causes translation of the release component so as to transition the release component from the first state to the second state.

5. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein actuation of the actuator causes the release component to move relative to the delivery component in a proximal direction that is opposite to the distal direction so as to release the toggle.

6. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the release component is elongated in the distal direction, and the release component defines a lumen that extends therethrough along the distal direction.

7. The instrument of claim 6 , wherein the delivery component is disposed at least partially in the lumen of the release component.

8. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the actuator is a lever, wherein actuation of the lever causes the release of the toggle from the release component.

9. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the actuator is a knob, wherein actuation of the knob causes the release of the toggle from the release component.

10. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the closure device includes a filament that connects the toggle to the plug.

11. The instrument of claim 10 , further comprising a locking member disposed along the filament in a proximal direction that is opposite the distal direction, and a tamper configured to slide along the filament in the distal direction so as to urge the locking member toward the plug.

12. The instrument of claim 11 , wherein the tamper includes a first lumen through which the filament extends, a second lumen sized to receive the guidewire therethrough.

13. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the cavity is an orifice that extends through the toggle.

14. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the cavity is a notch on a periphery of the toggle.

15. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the plug has an aperture configured to receive the guide wire, such that the toggle and the plug are slidable along the guide wire when toggle and the plug receive the guidewire.

16. The instrument of claim 1 , wherein the toggle includes opposed ends, wherein the distal end of the delivery component defines an angled portion that receives one end of the opposed ends of the toggle when at least one of the delivery component and the release component is in the first state.

17. A deployment instrument configured to seal a percutaneous puncture in a wall of an artery, the deployment instrument comprising:

a closure device including a toggle and a plug connected to the toggle;

a handle member;

a delivery component that is supported by the handle member and that extends relative to the handle member in a distal direction, the delivery component having a proximal end and a distal end spaced from the proximal end in the distal direction, the proximal end being supported by the handle member such that the distal end of the delivery component is spaced from the handle member in the distal direction;

a release component supported by the handle member, the release component having a rear end and a front end spaced from the rear end in the distal direction, the rear end being supported by the handle member such that the front end is spaced from the handle member in the distal direction; and

an actuator supported by the handle member and operably coupled to the release component, such that, an entirety of the actuator is spaced apart from the front end of the release component in a proximal direction that is opposite to the distal direction, wherein the actuator is configured to cause the release component to transition from a first state where the toggle is fixed relative to the release component and to the delivery component so that the toggle is stationary for insertion into the artery, and a second state where the toggle is released from the release component and the delivery component so that the toggle is moveable relative to the distal end of the delivery component.

18. The instrument of claim 17 , wherein the actuator is a rotatable actuator, and rotation of the actuator causes translation of the release component so as to transition the release component from the first state to the second state.

19. The instrument of claim 18 , further comprising an inserter sheath defining a proximal end, a distal end spaced from the proximal end of the inserter sheath in the distal direction, and a lumen that extends from the proximal end of the inserter sheath to the distal end of the inserter sheath along the distal direction.

20. The instrument of claim 19 , wherein the release component and the delivery component are configured to carry the toggle to a location that is spaced out of the distal end of the of the inserter sheath in the distal direction when the release component is in the first state.

21. The instrument of claim 18 , wherein the rotatable actuator is a lever, wherein rotation of the lever cause the release of the toggle from the release component.

22. The instrument of claim 18 , wherein the rotatable actuator is a knob, wherein rotation of the knob cause the release of the toggle from the release component.

23. The instrument of claim 17 , wherein actuation of the actuator causes the release component to move relative to the delivery component in a proximal direction that is opposite to the distal direction so as to release the toggle.
