View Patent ↗In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method includes: detecting a plurality of wagering game machines in proximity to the mobile phone, and selecting a first of the plurality of wagering game machines with which to establish a connection. The method can also include requesting the connection with the first of the plurality of wagering game machines, and transmitting, from the mobile phone to the first of the plurality of wagering game machines, player account information for configuring a wagering game. The method can also include receiving, from the first of the plurality of wagering game machines, content indicating a result of the wagering game, and presenting, on the mobile phone, the result of the wagering game.
1. A method of operating a wagering game machine primarily dedicated to playing at least one casino wagering game, the method comprising:
establishing a wireless connection between the wagering game machine and a mobile device of a player;
retrieving game preferences of the player from one of the mobile device and an account server, the game preferences indicating first elements of the casino wagering game to present on the wagering game machine and second elements of the casino wagering game to present on the mobile device;
in accordance with the retrieved game preferences, configuring, by a controller, the casino wagering game to present the first elements of the casino wagering game on the wagering game machine and the second elements of the casino wagering game on the mobile device, the second elements including at least one game input button;
configuring, by the controller, the casino wagering game to accept input from the mobile device;
receiving, at the wagering game machine from the mobile device, a command to initiate the casino wagering game; and
presenting, on a display device of the wagering game machine, the first elements of the casino wagering game.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one game input button includes one or more of a play initiation button and a betting button.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the casino wagering game is a card game and the second elements include one or more of winnings for the casino wagering game and cards for the casino wagering game.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the casino wagering game is a slots game and the second elements include one or more of winnings for the casino wagering game and slot reels for the casino wagering game.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuring includes configuring the casino wagering game in accordance with preselected defaults to the extent no game preferences are retrieved.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first elements and the second elements include one or more common elements.
7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
presenting, on the display device of the wagering game machine, a configuration wizard with which the player can indicate the game preferences;
receiving, via the configuration wizard, player input indicating the game preferences; and
transmitting, via a communications network to one or more of the mobile device and the account server, data indicating the game preferences.
8. A method comprising:
establishing a wireless connection between a wagering game machine and a mobile device of a player;
transmitting, to the wagering game machine, game preferences of the player, the game preferences indicating first elements of a casino wagering game to present on the wagering game machine and second elements of the casino wagering game to present on the mobile device, the second elements including at least one game input button;
receiving, at the mobile device, the second elements of the casino wagering game;
presenting, on a display device of the mobile device, the second elements of the casino wagering game;
receiving, on the mobile device, selection of the game input button to initiate the casino wagering game; and
transmitting, to the wagering game machine, a command to initiate the casino wagering game.
9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one game input button includes one or more of a play initiation button and a betting button.
10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the casino wagering game is a card game and the second elements include one or more of winnings for the casino wagering game and cards for the casino wagering game.
11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the casino wagering game is a slots game and the second elements include one or more of winning for the casino wagering game and slot reels for the casino wagering game.
12. The method of claim 8 , wherein preselected defaults are used to the extent no game preferences are transmitted.
13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first elements and the second elements include one or more common elements.
14. One or more non-transitory machine-readable storage media, having instructions stored therein, which when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
establishing a wireless connection between a wagering game machine and a mobile device of a player;
retrieving game preferences of the player from one of the mobile device and an account server, the game preferences indicating first elements of a casino wagering game to present on the wagering game machine and second elements of the casino wagering game to present on the mobile device;
in accordance with the retrieved game preferences, configuring the casino wagering game to present the first elements of the casino wagering game on the wagering game machine and the second elements of the casino wagering game on the mobile device, the second elements including at least one game input button;
configuring the casino wagering game to accept input from the mobile device;
receiving, from the mobile device, a command to initiate the casino wagering game; and
presenting, on a display device of the wagering game machine, the first elements of the casino wagering game.
15. The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 14 , wherein the at least one game input button includes one or more of a play initiation button and a betting button.
16. The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 14 , wherein the casino wagering game is a card game and the second elements include one or more of winnings for the casino wagering game and cards for the casino wagering game.
17. The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 14 , wherein the casino wagering game is a slots game and the second elements include one or more of winnings for the casino wagering game and slot reels for the casino wagering game.
18. The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 14 , wherein the configuring includes configuring the casino wagering game in accordance with preselected defaults to the extent no game preferences are retrieved.
19. The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 14 , wherein the first elements and the second elements include one or more common elements.
20. The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 14 , the operations further comprising:
presenting, on the display device of the wagering game machine, a configuration wizard with which the player can indicate the game preferences;
receiving, via the configuration wizard, player input indicated the game preferences; and
transmitting, via a communications network to one or more of the mobile device and the account server, data indicating the game preferences.
