Abstract

Logic for collision mitigation between transmissions of wireless transmitters and receivers operating at different bandwidths. Logic of the receivers may be capable of receiving and detecting signals transmitted at narrower bandwidths. In several embodiments, the receivers comprise a clear channel assessment logic that implements a guard interval (or cyclic prefix) detector to detect transmissions at narrower bandwidths. For instance, a two MegaHertz (MHz) bandwidth receiver may implement a guard interval detector to detect 1 MHz bandwidth signals and a 16 MHz bandwidth receiver may implement logic to detect one or more 1 MHz bandwidth signals and any other combination of, e.g., 1, 2, 4, 8 MHz bandwidth signals. In many embodiments, the guard interval detector may be implemented to detect guard intervals on a channel designated as a primary channel as well as on one or more non-primary channels.

Claims (38)

1 . (canceled)

2 . A wireless station (STA) comprising hardware processing circuitry including physical layer (PHY) circuitry and medium access control layer (MAC) circuitry, the hardware processing circuitry to:

initiate communication in a basic service set (BSS), the BSS to support signaling with frequencies of less than 1 GHz, and

send a transmission including information to indicate parameters for operation at frequencies of less than 1 GHz in the BSS.

3 . The STA of claim 2 , wherein the PHY circuitry is further to

set a bandwidth to be used by the STA while operating in the BSS set; and

transmit a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) at the bandwidth.

4 . The STA of claim 3 , wherein the PHY circuitry sets the operating bandwidth to 1 MHz.

5 . The STA of claim 3 , wherein the PHY circuitry sets the operating bandwidth to at least 2 MHz.

6 . The STA of claim 2 , wherein the information includes a channel width of the BSS.

7 . The STA of claim 6 , wherein the information further includes information indicating whether a primary channel of the channel is positioned in an upper side or a lower side of the channel.

8 . The STA of claim 7 , wherein the primary channel has a bandwidth of 1 MHz.

a transceiver; and

processing circuitry to

initiate communication in a basic service set (BSS), the BSS to support signaling using frequencies of less than 1 GHz; and

send a transmission including information to indicate parameters for operating at frequencies of less than 1 GHz in the BSS.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein

the processing circuitry is further capable to initialize a TXVECTOR parameter to set a bandwidth to be used by the system while operating in the BSS, and

the transceiver is to
