Abstract

A system, method and computer program product are provided for managing a plurality of applications via a single interface. It is initially identified as to which of a plurality of applications are installed on a computer. A status of each of the applications is then presented via a single graphical user interface.

Claims (43)

1. At least one machine accessible storage medium having code stored thereon, the code when executed on a machine, cause the machine to:

identify a plurality of applications that are installed on a computer;

concurrently present a status of each application of the plurality of applications, utilizing a plurality of separate application-specific visual indicators, via a single graphical user interface of another application, wherein the single graphical user interface includes:

a) the plurality of the application-specific visual indicators associated with the applications; and

b) an overall status representative of a collective status of the plurality of applications distinct from the application-specific visual indicators; and

responsive to selection of one of the plurality of applications from a list of the plurality of applications presented in the single graphical user interface, present

a) a visual indicator to indicate whether the selected application is enabled and

b) additional information related to the selected application.

2. The at least one medium of claim 1 , wherein the application-specific visual indicators comprise a textual indicator.

3. The at least one medium of claim 1 , wherein the overall status comprises a graphical status indicator.

4. The at least one medium of claim 1 , wherein the overall status comprises a bar graph.

5. The at least one medium of claim 1 , wherein the additional information is presented within a different window of the graphical user interface than the application-specific visual indicators.

6. The at least one medium of claim 1 , wherein the overall status comprises a plurality of overall status indicators.

7. The at least one medium of claim 1 , wherein the overall status is presented within a different window of the graphical user interface from the application-specific status indicators.

8. A system comprising:

one or more processors;

one or more memories coupled to the one or more processors, on which are stored instructions that when executed cause one or more processors to:

identify a plurality of applications that are installed on a computer;

concurrently present a status of each application of the plurality of applications, utilizing a plurality of separate application-specific visual indicators, via a single graphical user interface of another application, wherein the single graphical user interface includes:

a) the plurality of the application-specific visual indicators associated with the applications; and

b) an overall status representative of a collective status of the plurality of applications distinct from the application-specific visual indicators; and

responsive to selection of one of the plurality of applications from a list of the plurality of applications presented in the single graphical user interface, present

a) a visual indicator to indicate whether the selected application is enabled and

b) additional information related to the selected application.

9. The at least one medium of claim 8 , wherein the application-specific visual indicators comprise a textual indicator.

10. The at least one medium of claim 8 , wherein the overall status comprises a graphical status indicator.

11. The at least one medium of claim 8 , wherein the overall status comprises a bar graph.

12. The at least one medium of claim 8 , wherein the additional information is presented within a different window of the graphical user interface than the application-specific visual indicators.

13. The at least one medium of claim 8 , wherein the overall status comprises a plurality of overall status indicators.

14. The at least one medium of claim 8 , wherein the overall status is presented within a different window of the graphical user interface from the application-specific status indicators.

15. A method of monitoring the status of applications installed on a computer, comprising:

identifying a plurality of applications that are installed on a computer;

presenting concurrently a status of each application of the plurality of applications, utilizing a plurality of separate application-specific visual indicators, via a single graphical user interface of another application, wherein the single graphical user interface includes:

a) the plurality of the application-specific visual indicators associated with the applications; and

b) an overall status representative of a collective status of the plurality of applications distinct from the application-specific visual indicators; and

presenting, responsive to selection of one of the plurality of applications from a list of the plurality of applications presented in the single graphical user interface,

a) a visual indicator to indicate whether the selected application is enabled and

b) additional information related to the selected application.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the application-specific visual indicators comprise a textual indicator.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the overall status comprises a graphical status indicator.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the additional information is presented within a different window of the graphical user interface than the application-specific visual indicators.

19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the overall status comprises a plurality of overall status indicators.

20. The method of claim 15 , wherein the overall status is presented within a different window of the graphical user interface from the application-specific status indicators.
